Daddy issues

chapter three

(Kairi age 16)

My dad had called asking me to meet him at a coffee shop in town. He didn't really specify the reason, and hung up quickly before I could ask him any questions.

I showed up, going inside to see him, his wife and a little girl sitting at a table. I was beyond confused, but I joined them anyways.

"Hello, Kairi. I'm glad you could make it."
My father greeted as I took a seat across from him, next to the little girl.

"Hi, dad. Hi, Karen." I say smiling weakly at the woman who was sat next to my father. I turned to the little girl, smiling softly.

"I don't think we've met. I'm Kairi. What's your name?" I asked tickling her chin a little earning a giggle. It sounded oddly similar to mine, but whatever.

"I'm Maiya."

"This is your half sister, Kairi. Remember Karen had a baby." My dad said

So this is the sister I never got to meet. She's cute.

"Look, why don't you and Maiya get to know each other while Karen and I go see a movie?" My dad hums.

"Wait, you want me to babysit? I thought that we were going to spend time together?" I said disappointed.

"Well, I promised Karen a date night and our usual babysitter cancelled last minute. It'll be quick and then you can go home." He said looking at me with pleading eyes.

So he never wanted to actually hangout with me, he just needed me to watch his child so that he and his whore of a wife could go see a movie?

I wanted so badly to turn him down. I wanted to stand my ground and give him choice words as to why he's the worst father ever.

But I didn't.

I just nodded and let them leave.

He always seemed to be leaving...
