On my sono's vibrating background, I carefully put some mascara and gloss on, sitting in front of my mirror. I then tie my blond hair with an elastic to get the perfect ponytail. My friend Kevin is lying down all along my bed, checking distractedly his phone. I invited him at my house to help me get ready for tonight : Kevin always has good advices in clothing.
"Are you excited ? Nervous ?", he asks me, inquiring.
I turn towards him with a big smile.
"Both ! I haven't seen him all summer !"
"That's why it's normal to be nervous, Betty, but we agreed : It's time !", he assures.
He's not wrong. I mean, I must go for it, one day or another ! In all cases, I have nothing to lose.
"You like him, he likes you ...", continues Kevin.
I turn around again and point a makeup pencil to his direction, ready to contradict him.
"Well, then why, Kevin, hasn't he ever said or done anything?"
"Because... Archie is a good boy, but like most straight guys of his age, you need to tell him what he wants. So tell him, once for all."
"Well, we'll see... ", I say, not confident. "I mean it depends..."
"Oh... My... God !", Kevin interrupts me, screaming.
I blench and suddenly turn around : Kevin is perched at the edge of my bed, looking through my bedroom's window.
"What ?", I ask, curious.
"Game-change ! Archie got hot ! He's got abs now !"
I join him in a second and lean over to have a better view : through the opposite window of the house next door, I see Archie Andrews, my neighbor and childhood best friend. He is putting on a tee-shirt, his nose down on his phone screen. I just have time to catch a glimpse of the abdominal muscles which overhang the redhead's torso. With eyes shining of admiration, I slowly tilt my head, open-mouthed. I could almost slobber facing this dreamlike body.
"6 abs, 6 more reasons to take this bull by the horns !", concludes Kevin.
