I sit on the balcony
In my own company
I fix my eyes on the highway
Which has now become a pathway
People are locked in their houses
Minding their own businesses
Covid19 has hit us hard

A few blocks away a child cries
Until his throat dries
What's the matter?
Where's the mother?
Probably gone north or south
To find something to put in the mouth
Covid19 has hit us hard

I hear the Watchman yawn
I remember with a frown
I no longer give him something to eat
Hunger has pinned him in his seat
Whenever necessary he opens the gate weakly
He's wearing out weekly!
Covid19 has hit us hard

This pandemic has spared no one
Even in prayer we haven't defeated it
It's stronger than everything and everyone
We have lost a lot to it
Covid19 has hit us hard.
