The next morning was a complete rush.
In the night she had started a new work project and slept about three hours.
Alice made a quick and easy breakfast, showered, and got ready. Clad in a towel she stood in front of her dresser. She wanted to impress but not come off as too young.
In the end she decided to go with white jeans, white heals and a very light apricot colored sweater. She threw her hair in a ponytail and cleaned her glasses for the first time in a while they were really nasty.
Before going out she used deodorant and packed a little bag because she would go directly to the house of the boys.
The way to the café had seemed even shorter than before, well she took the car, not that she was too lazy to walk, it was just more practical for the trip to Jaden.
Walking into the building it smelled heavenly. Behind the counter were Emma and a middle-aged black woman.
"Good morning!"
"Hello, you must be Alice. I am Nzinga, very nice to meet you in person."
Alice shook Nzinga's hand.
"Very nice to meet you too."
"I believe Emma and you have already met, she will help you a little today. We will explain the necessities and see how you are going to hold up."
"Sounds good." Alice was confident, she had worked in a bigger café in Louisiana for about three years so there should really be no problem.
"Okay, I will tell you a little about us. We were founded five years ago, by myself and my wife Eva. Emma and her co-worker Yazmin have been working here for two years but Yazmin is very sick, so we are looking for somebody new. Industry & Co is a lifestyle orientated concept store, where consumers can shop, eat, drink and relax. We serve high quality, healthy middle eastern style lunch or freshly baked cakes and treats. All the amazing food is made fresh each day on the premises. So this is more than a café but I know that you are up for the challenge."
"Nice to see you again Alice, I will show you the ropes. When you have a question please ask."
------------------
The five hours didn't seem like five hours at all, Alice liked what she was doing, she liked her apron, it was fun and Nzinga and Emma were really funny people. They worked well together and got the job done.
Turns out Alice really liked cooking, especially when it comes to healthy food.
Like Nzinga had said, the food was fresh and looked terribly appetizing. The customers were often business people or designers and were really good at holding a conversation.
Alice didn't let anything fall and got tipped well, considering that it was only her rehearsal day. When the store closed for lunch break Nzinga sat her down.
