Ending explanation- Jack, in a moment when his trauma was becoming too much to cope with, decided to consult the cyborgs for help, without informing Jill. They offered to upgrade his brain with processors and dull negative emotional responses, which benefited him immensely. This doesn't make Jack's love for Jill fake, indeed he specifically instructed the cyborgs to make sure he should be able to love Jill even more under his new state of mind. The cyborg programmed a loop to execute that emotion, and the difference in his display of affection was indiscernible.
Cyborgs' Future- Upon using the machine on themselves, cyborgs found out that their purpose was to advance their civilization till the next stage of evolution, by advancing in all kinds of tech and exploring space conquests. The cyborgs indeed found some satisfaction in achieving new feats with technology, and are currently working on a 'light-speed minus one' space ship. They are also upgrading their combat and defensive capabilities to explore and possibly conquer or collaborate with other dimensions.
Aimless Town has hugely benefited from their shared technology, and the cyborgs have found nothing to gain from their civilization except occasional voluntary human subjects for the human-to-cyborg conversion program, hence leaving much of the town to go about their usual business.
Character names- Almost all character names are obscure references to/pseudonyms of popular figures. For example, Steve was based on Steve Rogers, while Tony Parker, its obvious. Chad is a meme. Find them all if you can.
Aimless Town Trivia- The town maintains its low population as it has a max two child rule, which allow resources to exceed requirements. Housing, food, water and electricity is free, to be allowed to live is a basic human right. Mandatory duty is very easy, automation has made it into simple button pushing. Education is free and based on utility, students are allowed to choose more of what they want to learn beforehand. First-aid takes precedence over algebra.
Luxury credits have a cap at 1 million, which is the costliest item called statue of wealth. After which any credits earned are taken by the system, hence forcing super-rich ones to spend. There is a quasi-government, any systematic changes initiated have to be voted for by everyone through their smartblocks, hence changes only occur to resolve issues rather than create them.
(P.S. This is just a fictional idealistic world that I dreamt about, not communism or anything lol)
