The woman talking, Sabrina, had kind eyes and a petite frame. She was the wife of the pastor at Gram's church. Brooke tried to remember the rest of her visitors' names. Two daughters, Grace, the oldest, was babysitting age, and the younger one was Faith. The lady sitting next to Sabrina was Katlyn and her little boy, Benjamin, was sitting on the play mat with Noah and his blocks. They were getting along surprisingly well, and Grace and Faith were fawning over them. The boys loved the attention.
"Oh my gosh! Faith look!" Grace called out to her sister as she pointed to her phone, then clapped her hand over her mouth as she looked at her mom. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt."
"It's okay. What happened?"
"Leah just texted and said Nine Days In will be playing in town next Saturday at House of Blues Orlando! It was a last minute decision when they had a cancellation." Grace was gushing with excitement.
"Okay, well that sounds fun. I take it you're wanting to go?" Sabrina smirked at Grace.
"Mommm!" both girls whined.
"Duh!" Faith rolled her eyes.
"Of course!" Grace spat out. "And Leah said her parents will go with us. She's planning to get a ticket for her sister too. So can we go? We have to decide fast, because they'll sell out today, I'm sure!"
Sabrina looked at the calendar on her phone. "Sure. It looks like that will work." She winked at the girls.
"Yes!" Faith yelled and pumped her arms.
"Yeah!" Noah copied and threw up his arms.
Both girls laughed at him; they were over the moon with excitement. Grace, glowing from the news, turned to Brooke, "Can Faith and I take Ben and Noah for a walk around the building? We'll stay close."
"Yeah, I think Noah would like that," Brooke answered.
"Sure," Katlyn agreed.
Once the girls left, Brooke couldn't hold back any longer, "Who or what is Nine Days In?"
"I won't tell the girls you asked that," Sabrina chuckled. "They are the most popular boy band right now. Even more than the Korean groups. Three of them actually play instruments, though, so they're a little different than most. And they just so happen to be from Orlando, so they play here pretty regularly. The young girls all go gaga over them. In fact their group of friends regularly inform each other if they happen to see any of them around town, so they can 'just happen' to end up at the same place. They're sort of obsessed."
Brooke chuckled. "Okay, well I've just learned something new. I guess I've been out of touch."
"Don't feel bad, they've only moved to international fame in the last couple of years, and it's mainly with middle to high schoolers. They're a bit after your time."
"I guess that makes me feel better," Brooke grinned.
"Their music is actually pretty good, and the media portrays them as overall good guys," Sabrina mentioned. "One of them even supposedly became a Christian a few months back. I haven't heard much about it since then, but who knows. The girls, of course, remind me of that every time I give them a hard time about the group."
"It's all good fun, though. I remember being the same way when I was their age," Katlyn said before she took a sip of her water. "So, Brooke, I'm part of a group here in Kissimmee that takes our kids to different parks in town each Friday at 10 am. There are mostly moms with their kids, but some grandparents, nanny's, and dad's too. It's a great way to get to know people. Plus, most of the kids are preschoolers, with a few homeschoolers that are a bit older in the mix, so it will be good for Noah to meet kids as well."
"That would be nice, thanks for letting me know. I'm sure at some point we'll go, but it may be a few weeks before I'm emotionally ready to."
Katlyn's face fell, and she nodded in understanding. "This is my number, if you ever need anything." She handed Brooke a card.
Brooke tried to stifle a yawn. "I'm sorry. I've not had much energy lately."
"Don't feel bad. Emotional strain can be just as exhausting as physical, exertion. We should get going, so you can rest. We'd love to see you at church when you're feeling up to it." Sabrina stood up and the others followed. She reached over to hug Brooke. "It has been great meeting you! Your grandmother always speaks so highly of you."
Katlyn hugged Brooke. "It was nice to meet you. I Iook forward to getting to know you and Noah better."
Brooke smiled at the two ladies. "Thank you both for coming, and thank you for the food. The lasagna and pound cake look wonderful." She truly was appreciative for their visit, but her mind was starting to wonder to the same dark place it had been going for the last couple of weeks. It was becoming harder to put on a smile and make small talk, and she needed to be alone, so she was thankful they were leaving. The glider on the screened in patio was calling her name.

"Muah," Brooke kissed Noah on the head. "Have fun with Grams at the park." Noah giggled and clapped his hands. "Love you both. Thanks Grams."
"Oh, you know we will; I love getting to show off my great grandson." The older woman winked and grinned. "You just rest dear, and have some time for yourself."
Brooke nodded and hugged her grandmother, then waved them off before heading in to put away the dishes from the dishwasher so she could relax out on the screened in patio.

The sound of a car door slamming startled Brooke awake. She lazily opened her eyes to see who had disturbed her long sought sleep, and was mesmerized by the most beautiful man she had ever seen standing on the sidewalk outside her grandmother's apartment building. Blinking once, twice to make sure she was awake, she realized this was not a dream. He had just stepped out of a flashy, new red Porsche wearing a black leather jacket, ray bans, black jeans, and a grey T-shirt, looking like a cross between a model and a James Dean bad boy wanna be. He ran his fingers through his dark hair, and was greeted moments later by two teen boys with skateboards. She watched until he disappeared from view, then pondered who he could be. If someone could afford a Porsche, why would they live in an apartment and not own a house? Who wears leather jackets in central Florida? And why would someone, who looked about her age, be hanging out with kids so much younger?
The rumble of her stomach pulled her from her thoughts and she went inside. After making a quick salad, curiosity got the best of her and she carried her food out to the patio, just in case the hot Porsche driver happened to walk back by. After twenty minutes with no sign of the hot guy, Brooke dryly laughed at herself and mumbled under her breath, "What are you thinking? You're in no shape to meet someone." She didn't know where things were headed with Tyler, and after all that she had been through, her mind and heart needed to heal. Then there was the fact that he clearly was not her type. Yet somehow she felt so attracted to him at first sight. She had only ever dated preppy, put together guys.
Gathering her bowl and glass, she stood up to go back in, when seemingly out of nowhere Mr. Hot Guy appeared. This time with three teen girls at his side, and his sunglasses off. His eyes were dark and dreamy. Standing frozen, she watched as he waved goodbye to them and slid in his car. Just as he started it, his head turned and he stared right at her, eyes lingering, before pushing on his sunglasses and smiling with a cocky grin. Her eyes grew wide and she felt her cheeks flush as he drove off. Finally coming to her senses, she retreated back inside feeling conflicted. She couldn't let herself get distracted by another man right now; she needed to focus on being strong for Noah and herself, and figuring out things with Tyler. Not only that, but that guy did not look like the forever-after type, and that was all she would let herself be interested in.
