Yawning, Brooke stretched until her arm bumped into a warm body. Her eyes shot open, and she was momentarily confused until she remembered she slept over with Elise. It had been two years since she had slept beside another person, Noah not included, and it was a strange feeling.
Rolling out of bed, she began quietly rummaging through her things, anxious to get home. This was her first time to sleep away from Noah and their longest time apart. It left her feeling empty. She grabbed her phone, toothbrush, and facial products and headed to the bathroom.
While brushing her teeth she checked her messages and saw there were multiple ones from Jacob. Once finishing in the bathroom, she slipped past Elise, and into the living room so she could sit down and see why Jacob was blowing up her phone. She was immediately hit with a series of screenshots taken from Instagram of her dancing with Matt, holding hands with Matt, and getting into an Uber with Matt. After each picture he had included screenshots of some of the comments. "New girl thinks she can snag local heartthrob." "Mystery girl will learn Matt's all about the one night stands." "Someone find this girl on insta so we can troll her." "Matt's mine!" "New girl hogged Matt. Learn to share like the rest of us!"
Brooke ran her hands over her face. This was crazy. She hadn't even looked at what Jacob said about it all. Looking at the time, she calculated it was 4 where he was. Just as she started to dial Jacob's number, she heard a key unlocking the door and jumped up confused, looking for something to hit them with. Grabbing a book from the table, she moved to a spot without a direct view of the door, and held up the book. Just as she began to swing it at the intruder, she saw that it was Matt.
He grabbed the book. "Woah there! I come in peace, and with donuts. I texted Elise, but didn't get a response, so I was just going to leave them on the counter, but this is even better." He grinned, and looked at her funny.
Her brows furrowed, and she followed his eyes and looked down to realize she was wearing her Minnie Mouse night shirt and shorts, with her fluffy Minnie slippers. With red cheeks, she stepped backwards. "I'm, um, I'm going to change, and then we need to talk!" she whisper yelled while pointing at him. Brooke quickly turned and darted into the bedroom finding Elise awake. "I was out there like this!" Brooke gestured to her bra-less, super short shorts, and fluffy shoed self, "and in walks Matt who apparently has his own key!"
Elise crinkled her nose. "Oops. Sorry. I forgot to tell you that since. Brad and Matt live in the same building we have each other keys. You can never walk around indecent, because they're prone to pop in unannounced."
"Yeah? Well, moving on, there's also this." She tossed her phone on the bed for Elise to see what Jacob sent, then grabbed some clothes to change.
Elise's eyebrows shot up and a hand went over her mouth as she scrolled through the images. After a few minutes she spoke up. "Well, at least he says he has someone who can get it all taken down for you."
"What?" Brooke plopped down beside her and looked at Jacob's message. "I was so distracted, I never got to his actual messages. There he goes making me think he's some kind of secret agent again. Yesterday he offered to send me protection for last night."
Elise's head tilted to the side and her brows pulled together. "That's weird."
"Tell me about it. I do think I'll take him up on the offer for scrubbing this from social media, though. Even though I closed all my accounts, I don't like the idea that this stuff is out there."
