"I can't believe you finally agreed to go to one of their concerts on the tour!" Elise giggled and grabbed a bite of her Greek salad. "mmandmweregoingfmmtonewyorkfmtoo!"
"Finish chewing! I didn't understand a word of what you said!" Brooke's stern face gave way as she began to chuckle.
Swallowing, she finally got words out, "And we're going to New York too!" She clapped and a couple of guys sitting on the other side of the break room turned their heads towards the girls. Brooke shrugged and smiled. "Thank you for going! I honestly thought I was going o have to go by myself, or get some random to go. I'm not missing out on this opportunity!"
Laughing again, Brooke looked over at Elise. "Well, thank goodness some random is off the hook."
Elise pulled up the notes app on her phone. "Okay, so we fly up on a Thursday and stay for," she counted with her fingers, "one, two, three nights and leave Sunday. We need to find a hotel. Do we want to stay close to Madison Square Gardens, where the concert is, or closer to Times Square. Although they're not too far from each other. Or maybe we should stay closer to Central Park. We'll for sure want a cab to the concert then. We should also figure out what plays we want to see. We have to see at least one play! Hopefully two. Maybe we should stay close to where the theater is where we're going to watch the play? So many decisions! What? Why are you looking at me that way?"
Brooke had another bout of laughter, but finally got it under control so she could speak. Wiping a tear from her eye, she answered, "You've been talking a mile a minute. You need to breathe girl." There was a chuckle from one of the guys on the other side of the room. "I'll check out trip advisor and see what kind of hotels with decent prices I can find for those days in the areas you mentioned. Maybe that will help make our decision. You find out what shows are running that you want to go to and think I'll enjoy too, then map out where those theaters are located. After work let's book our flights, with only two weeks, the prices may already be outrageous." Brooke's face got serious for a moment.
"You think it's going to be too expensive? Maybe your Grams can loan you some money."
"Oh, no, it's not that." Brooke grimaced. "Do you realize this will be the longest I've been away from Noah. It makes me a little anxious and a little sad."
"Wow, I didn't think about that. That's going to be hard. I'm sorry, maybe I shouldn't have pushed you about this trip. You don't have to go. Seriously, I'll find someone else, it's no big deal. You'll already be stressed about Jacob, and with Noah, it might be too much."
"No. I need to do this. I'm going to do this. I have to face my fears and insecurities. I can't always be with Noah, and I just have to push past the Jacob thing. He's always going to be around to an extent, because of our grandmothers' relationship. It will require lots of extra prayer. That's for sure."
"How's that going, by the way."
"What?" Brooke raised her eyebrows.
"The God thing. You becoming a Christian."
One side of Brooke's mouth raised up. "Really well actually. You should come to church with me sometime." Elise shook her head. "Aren't you curious? Have you ever been to church?"
"My parents took me a few times on holidays like Christmas and Easter when I was younger. I don't think that's for me. All those rituals and religious mumbo jumbo. Nah. I'm good."
