Mew's

"Have you eaten dinner?" I watched as my Mom assisted my Dad in removing his coat and tie and suddenly, my favorite steak tasted bitter.

My Dad didn't answered her question and just proceeded to kitchen island and pour himself a glass of whiskey.

He looked at me and I met his gaze with equal coldness. The household has always been like this whenever he came home from work.

Cold.

Quiet.

If it wasn't because of Mom, I can never call this my home anymore.

But my Mom is my home.

And that's enough for me to cope up.

For now.

"Aren't you going to join me and your son?" Mom asked again and I can't help but to secretly snort.

It's obvious that we're not his family anymore yet my Mom kept acting so martyred.

What a good wife she is.

And how she didn't deserve such man.

"No, thanks. I've already eaten with my colleague--"

"Was that a euphemism for mistress?" I whispered but then, I know that they both heard me. My Mom gave me a warning look but I can already see her eyes tearing up while my Dad is giving me an incredulous look.
