Chapter 02 - Break

Today is my flight to LA. Well before Lu literally told me not to talk to them unless it's an emergency of any sort. But I made sure to bring my guy repellant. The ring that Samuel gave me when we were still in Las Encinas. He didn't ask for it back. Instead he wanted me to keep it. Truth is our break up isn't really messy. It's just that I hurt him unintentionally. That's entirely my fault. I can't really blame him for our break up.

Right now I'm boarding the plane on the way to LA. I'm actually gonna follow what Lu told me. But I'm still going to post stuff on my Instagram. While I was waiting on my seat on the plane, I took the ring out of the box that I keep it in. On a daily basis I wear it as a necklace. But on special occasions or when I go to events I wear it. Because most of the time when guys sees that i'm wearing a ring they don't even dare talk to me. I'm going to need this in LA. I'm going there to relax. Not to find a guy and have a fling.

After all I made a promise to Samuel.

"I love you Samuel. Please remember that. I'll wait till the day you say that you don't love me too."

I intend to keep my word. Actually it's the last words I told him when we broke up. The day I also went back to Madrid.

In reality, I really wanted to win him back when we broke up. But because of my father, I had to go home and take over the company. Like I said, when I was appointed as the new CEO, work has piled up and it just became endless. I thought I could find some time to leave and go back to New York but I couldn't. So I stayed. Because of the time difference when I'm at work and when he's at work, I couldn't find the right time to talk to him. And eventually we just lost contact.

After a few hours, we were already in LA. Lu arranged my transportation to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport for next week. I was standing on the magazine stand when I noticed a few of them about business. Samuel was in a few of them.

"An exclusive interview with Hayden and Smith's Youngest Senior Partner, Samuel Garcia"

Wow, I didn't realize that he became famous in 3 years time. Senior Partner at New York's top firm. But they're calling him New York's Most Eligible Bachelor. Which means he's still single. Maybe this is the time that I should try to reconnect with him again.

I bought one of the magazines on the stand with his interview so I could read it while in the car on the way to the hotel.

I opened my phone and received a video link from Lu about Samuel, so I watched it.

"Interview with Atty. Samuel Garcia Dominguez

Interviewer: At the age of 26, you're already a Senior Partner which is kind of a big deal. Tell me how did you get hired at Hayden and Smith?

Samuel: Well, I first started there as an intern when I was still in college in Brown University. Then right after I graduated and took the board, they hired me.

Interviewer: So what was is like? What motivated you to pursue law?

Samuel: I got motivated to pursue law because of my life in Madrid before. I didn't really come from money. Actually I only got a scholarship to attend college here. Taking up a job here, a decent one felt like I was a fish out of water but like Leo would always tell me, it's all about learning to adapt and survive.

Interviewer: So you say that you felt like you didn't belong, is there someone who helped you through everything?

Samuel: Yeah, actually there was. Me and my girlfriend used to live together from college.
