Elizas POV
Williams chief of general surgery called AJ and me over and told us that they were sending a team on-site we and a couple of other people that were going went to get our bags.

"Do you have everything? We need to get to the ambulances ASAP."

AJ was always the type of person to make sure we had everything it was nice but annoying sometimes.

"Yes, I got it to go make sure George and Katherine have everything."

They were the rest of the team that was being sent out. AJ just rolled his eyes at me.

"Already checked they have it all, let's go Eliza."

Of course, he already made sure they had everything. We headed out to the ambulances and got in. Once the ambulance started driving they told us that they got the majority of people out and only one was stuck. Soon enough we arrived. I will never get used to the sensation of arriving at a catastrophe. I looked around and more people were screaming some were crying AJ glances at me and I nodded at him.

A firefighter came up to us."Are you the surgeons from north lake hospital?"

"We are. Where's the patient?" Katherine asked.

"This way." We followed the firefighter. I asked what the patient's name was.

"Lucas Gardner."

We kept walking and In front of me was a crushed car.

"The car's been crushed by debris. We got his wife out but we couldn't get him out.

"Oh my god, he's alive?" George asked.

The firefighter said barely. We all rushed to the smashed car and started to try and find a way to get somewhat in the car so that way we could see.

"Hey, Lucas, My name is Eliza. We're gonna get you out of there, okay?"

"That'd be great."

Good, I thought he's responsive.

"Where do we even start?"

"We just do AJ, we just do."

I asked for more lap pads and George got the light so Jackson's eyes could follow to make sure he had no brain injuries. Lucas started talking and trying to make conversation which is good cause he's trying not to worry but I know Katherine and AJ need somewhat of silence to hear his breathing.

"Lucas, we're trying to listen to your breathing. Stop talking, please." Katherine said.

"It's hard to hear breath sounds out here, he could have a collapsed lung," AJ said.

George asked me "How's his abdomen?"

"A lot of blood, from what I can see." " Lucas, I'm just gonna check your torso, okay?"

Great I thought this is going to be harder than I thought I was thinking for a minute when AJ interrupted.

"What's wrong?" "He's impaled in two places."

I didn't expect Lucas to respond but he did.

"It's pretty bad, huh?" "Yep, it's pretty bad. But I've seen worse."

We continued working and it was soon dark the firefighters had to use their truck lights and some other lights now I knew It would be a late night for me. I still had some sort of worry about Spencer but I had to push that to the back of my head. Right now I needed to focus on Lucas's life his wife was going to have a baby and he needed to see his child no matter how long it took.
