Elizas POV

I came into work like any other day and like any other day, we had emergencies and the E.R. Was busy like usual but I enjoyed it, it was my home and it was comfort. It's crazy how comfort can become hell and uncomfortable just like when you were once so close to someone you can grow so distant from each other. It's crazy how everything can change in the blink of an eye.

"I've been paging you for half an hour," Owen said "I've been busy" I climbed out of one of the ambulances and proceeded to take off the bloody PPe "We got a 45-year-old male with a head LAC, positive LOC on the scene also has abdominal contusion." while the EMTs unloaded him Ben and  Penny surrounded the patient and started questioning if he could have further injuries. "I'd say it's not as bad as it looks, But..." the patient quickly got cut off by penny announcing the injuries he had.

We took him inside and I put my Proper PPE on again. I got the ultrasound machine and put it on his abdomen to see if he had internal bleeding. I have the machine to ben so he can continue looking for internal injuries while I moved to his head "A bony deformity in the temporal region. 5-centimeter head LAC." Ben announced that his abdomen was clear while penny said "palpable pulses in all four extremities." I put my light to the patient's eye and noticed that he had mild pupillary asymmetry I told ben and penny that we needed to get a head C.T. and that we needed to page neuro.

"Starting to regret taking a tour of that city today. No rain. Though it was a good idea. I got more than I bargained for." he said "Well, you did hit your head pretty good Lou, but we're gonna get you fixed up." I reassuring told the patient. "wasn't my most graceful landing neither." he said and laughed "pushing 150 of Fentanyl. This should help with the pain" Penny told him. Ben got off of the phone so I asked where neuro was he said he had pages then but received no response "well then go get them" I told him. I needed to make sure that the patient's head wasn't too badly injured so I needed neuro quickly. I started to clean Lous head wound while he was telling me that he was in Seattle to visit his sister and that his sister and his kids were on a girls day out and he decided to go see the space needle he made a joke about how he's seeing all kinds of needles now and I asked how many kids he had "two they're 10 and 6 and they are smart, man" "aww that's sweet" I said "they're smarter than i..."

He started to have a seizure specifically a tonic-clonic seizure I told penny that we had to roll him I asked her what we did next to make sure she knew and she said that we wait for it to pass "correct we wait for it to pass" I started to notice that the seizure was going on too long and before I could tell penny she was thinking the same thing and said it was going on too long. "We need 10 of Lorazepam. it's locked in the pharmacy go now." I told her she rushed out of the E.R. room while two nurses helped continue to hold him on his side "it's ok Lou. I got you" he started to relax and the seizure started to slow down I laid him back on his back and made sure to elevate his head. "he's gonna need a new gown and sheets would you get him some" I asked one of the nurses while I checked his eyes. the other nurse was going to leave and I asked him if he could get Neuro in here once again. now it was just Lou and me.

I checked his heart and turned around to write it on my laptop and I went back to check his stomach and everything seemed normal so I made sure to write that down on my laptop. I turned back around a Lou was up and starting to walk I noticed that he looked disoriented so I held his arms and told him he needed to lay down and that he shouldn't be up especially since he just had a seizure. He started to slightly resist but I didn't think anything of it instead I just reassured him again and said that he needed to lay back down. he pushed me against the window and threw me into some biohazard trash. he started to throw me onto the bed and now I knew that he was going to get violent and I needed to get my ass out of the room. Lou had a good grip on me and his hands were on my shoulders, he pushed me into some glass cabinets and my head broke the glass. Lou had moved his hands up to my neck and started to choke me, I knew I couldn't give up yet so I started hitting his shoulder in an attempt that he would let go. no one was in the room with me and the door was closed I slowly started to lose hope but I knew I had to keep fighting. it seemed like hours went by that he was choking and punching me my vision started to get blurry and I knew I had bad injuries by the pain I get but Lou wouldn't stop fighting me I started to become unconscious and felt my eyes closing. I don't know how much time went by but I open my eyes and I can see again but I can't move I keep hearing ringing what is that ringing noise coming from I thought. I was staring at the door and I was in pain but I can't call out for help I think my jaw might be locked or broken I don't know. Finally, I feel someone touch my back but I still can't hear.

Third person's POV

Penny shouted "I NEED SOME HELP IN HERE NOW!

Some of the doctors put Eliza on a gurney and made sure to stabilize her head and neck but Elizas eyes were closed and she was unconscious again

"Trauma panel. Send blood for a cross match. The belly is soft" Owen said

Bruising on the left chest. Decreased breath sounds on the left" April said

Ben spoke "Art line is going in. Pulse Ox is down to 88."

"For a trauma series. hook up those monitors." Richard told the nurses

"We need a Wide bore I.V.," Owen told someone

"get ortho here. add some left arm and leg films." Richard said

April spoke up and asked if anyone had told the chief but Richard said don't page her and that this was one patient and they could handle it ben started saying that the patient who did this is Eliza was stable and non-aggressive and that he wasn't a threat Owen then said that the patient was also hyper-aggression and it could occur after a seizure. Dr. Karev came in and immediately started helping while Richard, Owen, and April started naming the injuries that Eliza had
"obvious dislocation on the left elbow"
"left knee swelling"
"rib fractures on the left with palpable crepitus"

Elizas POV

I woke up to bright fluorescent lights and saw Alex, April, Owen, and Richard all surrounding me. Owen started talking to me but I still couldn't hear him all I could hear was ringing in my ears. Meredith and Maggie came into my view of vision and I think Maggie was trying to talk to me but I'm not sure.
I felt movement and noticed they were about to turn me on my side I couldn't speak but it hurt so bad they turned me back over and I saw Alex starting to get teary-eyed. While seeing Alex get teary eyes I remembered that Meredith had told me that Alex had never clicked with a person so fast before she said we were like she and Christina was each other's person always each other person she said. I didn't understand what she meant cause Alex and I had just become friends a month before but now I understood. He put on a brave face but I could tell he was scared and worried. they rolled me on my side again and I groaned and screamed.

Third person's POV

Amelia finally walked in and quickly saw that her friend was the one on the table instead of another patient Owen said " it's York, sorry I thought you knew." amelia froze and stood there while the others continued to figure out what injuries Eliza had. "I'm going to have to put in a chest tube your lung is collapsing," Maggie said As soon as they put the chest tube in Eliza immediately started coughing and gasping for air. "Alex you should leave the room you're considered her family," Richard told Alex "Everyone in this room is her family." "Well yes, but there is one person who is still not here and should be contacted soon." "Yeah I know we need to contact Spencer." Stephanie then started to shine a light in her eyes to see if she had a traumatic brain injury which Eliza did not. "Dr. York, can you move your fingers for me?... Or your toes." no response or movement in both her fingers or toes. "cmon just...just wiggle something." she said again. "Guys, Guys I don't think she can hear us," Alex said Owen asked if he was sure just to confirm that she couldn't hear therefore she couldn't move her fingers or toes since she couldn't hear. "I see evidence of Barotrauma, Possibly from the blows." Jackson said "I think Karev might be right. Owen removes the oxygen mask from her face and says that her jaw is locked. Jackson then took over to examine her face and jaw. "Yeah, we've got a dislocation here possible fracture." "there is no way we're getting a tube in there." Owen said. Meredith then spoke after being silent for a while " you have to a tube in. You have to preserve her airway." Alex suggested that they could also trach her. Jackson spoke again "no, no, no wait for a second if I can reduce the dislocation, we can probably get her mouth open just enough to intubate. It's gonna hurt like hell, though." Jackson sighed "okay. Hang tight. I'm sorry York Okay, York were gonna have to pop your jaw open, Okay? I'm sorry. I know. But we have to do it. And we're gonna do it on the count of three, you guys. Ready? 1...2..."
