Hiccups Scream

*Jacks P.O.V

I sat at the end of the table, seeing all the guardians were asleep. I felt like I could finally think. Like I could finally contemplate my memories and get them in order. Thinking back I did some horrible things. Especially to the guardians. Knowing the pain I put them through, made me regret coming back here and face them.

I heard someone scream from down the hall, making me jump up and use the staff I fixed to fly towards the source. I saw that the scream came from Hiccups room. Feeling my heart drop I ripped open the door, seeing him holding his head and that he was in a fetal position. I ran over to him, grabbing his shivering body.

"Hiccup!" I shouted, shaking him. My body shivered with fear, making my stomach sink to the ground. I heard footsteps running into the room.

"What's going on!" Shouted Tooth. I didn't look up, instead I shook Hiccup who was still screaming with sweat beating his forehead.

"HICCUP!" I screamed, shaking him.

Hiccup slapped my hands away, opening his eyes as he shot up in his bed. He was breathing heavily. "Calm down!" I shouted, grabbing his arms. "I'm here Hiccup, calm down," I said feeling my heart go into a spill of despair.

Hiccup, still breathing hard, started to tear up. A couple of tears fell on his cheek before he lifted his hand and placed it on my cheek. "J-Jack?" He squeaked. "Oh thank god!" He sobbed, gripping my jacket hard. "I thought you were dead! I thought I killed you!" He sobbed.

Thought you killed me? What does that mean?

"Jack what's going on?" Asked Tooth.

I held Hiccup close before turning to the door. "Its fine, he just had a nightmare." I said quietly. "Could you leave us alone for a minute?" I asked.

They nodded, leaving the room. The last one closing the door slowly. I felt my heart calm as Hiccups sobs continued. I held him there, feeling helpless to his crying out. I soothed him down until his sobbing turned quiet. Hiccup raised his head, facing me with puffy red eyes. He sniffled.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" I asked finally, seeing his bloodshot eyes stare at me.

He didn't answer.

Instead he gripped my cheek and smiled, his smile gave me hope and caught up in the moment, I gripped his hand. "Huh, crying doesn't suit you," I said sarcastically.

Hiccup chuckled. "Tell me about it." He squeaked.

I sighed. "Are you sure you don't want to talk about your nightmare?" I asked once again. He looked down at his hand, like he was thinking about how to answer.

Finally, he shared my gaze. "I am fine, it was a bad dream about home, nothing more than that." He said, dropping his hand from my cheek. He gripped the covers and slipped deep into the blankets. His hands seemed to clutch it tight. I rolled my eyes.

"Do you want me to stay with you?" I asked.

Hiccup looked up at me with pleading eyes, but didn't say anything. Again I rolled my eyes and placed my staff on the corner wall. I jumped up onto his bed and sat down next to his head before slipping under the covers. Hiccup turned around to face me.

"Let's get your mind off of things shall we," I said. "What's you age?" I asked.

Hiccup sniffled. "I am 18 right now."

I chuckled. "Wow, only a year older than me," he said. "But I guess I don't age so that makes me older than you." He said. Hiccup chuckled.

"I guess it does." He said. "Thank you for staying with me, I'm gonna see if I can get to sleep." He said, lowering his head into the blanket. His eyes closed and I stared at his face. But the words he told me, never left my head.

"I thought I killed you!"

I wonder what he meant by that. I wonder if I should be a afraid or ask him straight tomorrow why he dreamed that. Or maybe I should wait for him to tell me when he wants to.

So many questions and all I could think about was the few simple words anyone would think.

Should I be afraid?
