Chapter 24

~Mackenzie~

We arrived at home soaking and muddy.
I sneezed. NOOOOOOOOO!

Mark smiles at the babysitter who has her mouth open in shock. "Do you.....did you have a mud shower?" She asks. "NO!" I cry "We were on our way back and it started raining. There was a lot of mud and my heel got stuck so I fell face first into the mud."

She laughs and I want to punch her face. "I be going. Kids are asleep" she says and gathers her things and leaves. I sigh. "I'm going to shower" I cough. Mark nods. Upstairs, I shower and change into a full sleeved purple top with gym pants. I go to Kevin's room, kiss him goodnight, go to Izabell's room, kiss her and then go to my own. Mark was in the shower and I decided to text Jess about it.

Hey Jess! You'll never guess what happened with me and Devil Boy!

EW! NO! We were going out and it began to rain. He gave me his jacket and I fell face first into the mud. Bday dress all ruined with mud nd water!!

I roll over and read Jess's text over and over again. Finally, I feel my eyes close and I'm off into deep slumber.
In the morning, I smell the delicious smell of pancakes. I jump out of bed and go to the bathroom. After, I pull on a blue blouse and ripped jeans. I plunged myself down the stairs and saw Mark feeding Kev pancakes with butter and maple syrup.
"Morning Kev, Mark" I say plopping in the seat. Izzy was in her walker. "Mownin mummy" says Kev. Mark said nothing. I ignore him and help myself to the pile of pancakes with butter and maple syrup.
After eating, I try talking to Mark.

"Marrrrk!" I purr. "What the hell do you want, Mackenzie?" Asks Mr. Grumpy. "Gee Mark, did you get out of the wrong side of your bed?" I ask. "You don't need to talk to devil boy, Miss Queen" he says.

I gasp. "You've read my texts!!" I cry. "Yeah" He says simply. "And what's more, I don't think this is going to work"
