Chapter 22

Nakatulala ako habang pinapanood syang lumakad paalis mula dito sa lamesa. My heart sunk when I saw him moving away from me. Pakiramdam ko, ako yung nalalayo sakanya dahil ako ang aalis. Pakiramdam ko hindi ko kayang mawalay sakanila... sakanya..

"I'll-"

"No, let Ava handle him, Liane," Simon cut her off. 

Napatingin ako kay Simon na tumango saakin habang si Liane naman ay nakakunot ang noo.

"You can talk to us after him.." Ian smiled. 

I sighed deeply and followed where Basty went. Una akong tumungo sa front porch pero hindi ko sya nakita roon, sunod naman sa may beach front, but also there's no signs of him there, tumungo naman ako sa gilid ng bahay, kung nasaan ang pool, and there, I saw him.. sitting on one of the small benches. Yakap nya ang mga tuhod nya habang diretso ang tingin sa dagat. Kaharap kasi ng pool namin ang view ng beach. 

I sighed again and sat beside him. Tumingin rin ako sa malayong karagatan habang inoobserbahan sya. He was breathing heavily and I can see that he's clenching his jaw.

Kung masakit para sakanya 'to, mas lalo naman saakin. I know a lot has happened between us, curvy lines, unexpected events, unexpected mistakes, pero kahit ano pang mangyari, parati kaming bumabalik sa isa't isa. Katulad noong camping, noong birthday ko, katulad... nito.

"Do you really have to leave?" He breathed those words. He said it like he's in pain.

I felt a stung in my chest and my eyes are already heating when I heard his tone. I told myself that I won't be emotional when I tell this to my friends.. to him.. pero naguumpisa palang, naiiyak na 'ko. 

I don't want anyone in pain when I leave because that will just make it hard for me to leave. Mas lalo lang akong mahihirapan, mas lalo akong aayaw at mas pipiliing manatili nalang rito. 

"I have to.." I bit my lower lip to stop my tears. 

He looked at me and I saw his bloodshot eyes, watering. He is clenching his jaw hard and his breathing became heavy. 

"Don't leave, please," He whispered and leaned on me to embrace me. He buried his face on my neck. 

Mukhang mahihirapan nga akong umalis nito.

My tears started falling, I tried to wipe it but new tears are falling. 

"Basty.."

"Don't leave please, I'll be better from now on, I'm sorry if I was a jerk before, I'm sorry if I used you to move on, I'll be better, I promise. I'm sorry... please stay.." I heard him sob on my neck. 

Mas humigpit ang yakap nya saakin na para bang hinding hindi nya 'ko pakakawalan. My heart hurt more. It makes me doesn't want to leave.
