Just A Bittersweet Memory

Chapter 12- The Game

Our school's basketball teams will play today and whoever wins the game will compete with other schools. Lewis, Red and Neo and 3 others are from the Blue Team while Liam, Peter and Reese plus 3 others are on the White Team.

I'm not really fond of the game, I just visited the court a few times because I have to meet Airy and Devan since they are having their practice. Airy is their leader and of course the 3 barbies Jessy, Thesla and Cara are cheerleaders too.

I approached my two best friends and said "What time are you both going home? It's half past 3!"
Airy replied "Don't tell me that your not watching the basketball game tonight?"
Devan said "You know Mia, she's just not into the game and she'll just get bored. She'll even prefer to read a book than watch us."
So I said "What will I even get by watching you? I've been with you two since forever so I already mastered your usual routine in cheering."
Both of them laughed.
Airy said "Well your two boys will be playing tonight so I guess that's enough reason to watch us."
I replied " No, I don't want to watch them play, there's too much tension between them when I'm around." Devan said "We'll treat you for an ice cream and your favorite pizza after the game!"
You should know my answer by now, "Ok who am I to turn down free food?"the three of us giggled.

We went home just to change our clothes and then back again to our school's gym. Both blue and white team were warming up in the court. The cheerleaders were already in their respective places. After few minutes, they were calling the different players. The girls were shouting everytime their favorite player was called. Liam and Lewis have their set of fans. I am seated in a place with a good view because I was tasked to write for our paper about the said game.

Before the game started, Lewis eyes were wandering. Is he searching for me ? I don't know! Then suddenly our eyes met. He smiled and winked. I felt like melting when I saw those dark brown dreamy eyes. His uniform fits him perfectly. Those abs were really inviting.

Liam is also handsome in his uniform, I believed his been working out too. Jessy went to Liam and she kissed him on his cheek. Are they dating now? Whatever, I'm just happy for them. I stopped avoiding Liam because I'm afraid that he might do something that will ruin our friendship.

Everytime Lewis shoots, he makes a quick glance at me like he's telling me that it's for me. I was never a fan of the game but now that Lewis is playing, I'm enjoying it.

The cheerleaders performed after the second quarter. They were making several stunts and exhibitions. Unfortunately, an accident happened, Thesla fell because she was on top of the pyramid. She broke her leg and as an aspiring doctor,I ran towards her to check on her. I said "Hey Thesla, don't move just stay still. The medic is coming to help you."

She held my hand and said "Thank you!" while she grimaced in pain. They still finished the game despite the accident. Lewis' team won. Thesla was brought to the hospital. Her parents were there. She'll be resting for a few months. Thesla is one of Jessy's minions but now I think that she's not that bad, maybe she was just influenced by Jessy.

We went at the cafe near our school after the game with Lewis, Red and Neo. They were the ones who paid for our food. After few hours, Lewis went to Airy and Devan and said "Can I borrow your friend tonight?" They both agreed. They went home with Red and Neo.

I said "Wait where will we supposed to go superman?"
He said, "That's a surprise sweet pea!"

After a two hour drive, we arrived at our destination. I was in awe when I saw the view. We were in a beach resort. It was beautiful! I've never been in any of this kind of view because I had a lot of things to do and we had a limited budget.

After an hour of walking and talking at the beach, it rained heavily. Lewis carried me bridal style and we went to his car. We were soaked with water. He said, "We'll just stay in a hotel tonight, you can use my extra clothes it's in my gym bag."

Then we finally reached the hotel. He went for a shower and from there he went out wearing only a white towel. Wow! that water dripping from his body traced his perfectly sculputured abs. I gulped my saliva and then coughed.

He said, "Do you like what you see sweet pea?"  I took a deep breath and said, "I need a cold shower!" I run into the bathroom. I used his white shirt and his short. It's big but it'll do. I washed my clothes and let it dry, that's what Lewis did too.

He said, "You look good in my clothes!"
I answered with confidence, "Oh I look good in everything Superman!"

I noticed that we only have one queen sized bed. Lewis said "Don't worry I'll take the couch and you'll take the bed.
I won't do anything without your consent sweet pea!" So I smiled.

I fell asleep immediately. We woke up very early in the morning. Before I went to my apartment, we had our breakfast at a 24 hr cafe near my place. I guess it's one of our usual routine now, eating breakfast together. We don't know what is going on between us. He never tried anything with me. We just enjoyed whatever this is.
