Just A Bittersweet Memory

Chapter 13- The New Cheerleader

The principal asked me to visit the office after our classes. I hope I'm not in trouble. I've always been a good student. I don't want my scholarship to be compromised.

Devan called me to meet her at our favorite Cafe. It's our break time and while heading on the said place there are group of girls surrounding Airy, she has an important announcement so I stopped and listened.

Airy said "Everybody knew what happened to one of our cheerleaders during the last game, I would like to tell you that we will be needing a new cheerleader as a replacement of Thesla. The tryout will be held at the school's gym this afternoon. Thank you very much!"

Airy waved at me so I waited for her.
I said, "Let's go to the Cafe because Devan is waiting for us."
She replied, "That's a good idea cause I'm hungry and  parched."

When we arrived at the cafe, Devan had already ordered our favorite pizza and vanilla shake.
She said, "Come on, let's eat.We're running out of time."

Airy was trying to convince me to join the tryout since I'm familiar with their routine. I said "No! no! no! That's not really my forte!"
Devan replied "Have faith in yourself Mia, I couldn't think of anyone but you that could replace Thesla perfectly."

It's 5pm and the tryout is already starting. I went to the office and talked to the principal. She said "Mia, I think you have to go to the gym for the tryout!" I said "No ma'am!
I'm good at being the editor of the school's paper."
She replied "Giving cheerleading a shot will add points to your scholarship!"
I answered, "Do I have a choice Ma'am?" She said, "This time, I want you to go and try because the school needs you. There will be another basketball game next week. We need a cheerleader who can catch up with the routine easily."
I just smiled and went to the gym. I don't know if this is a good idea.

When I arrived at the gym, many ladies were waiting for their turn to show their cheerleading skills. Devan handed over a cheerleader's uniform and I went to  the locker room to change.

I watched the different ladies perform. I'm a little distraught because I don't know if I can pull this off. I knew the routine, I've been watching Airy and Devan since we're sophomores but now, I don't know if I can do it smoothly because in any minute, the basketball team will also be here to train and of course, they will be watching us.

The long awaited moment is here. One of the teachers called my name. She said,"Mia Cielo Paradiso, it's your turn!Show us what you got!"

I started with a hand clasp position while chanting. I did the spring eagle which is the most basic jump.
I swayed my hips like there's no tomorrow, it was followed by the toe touch and I ended the routine with a herkie.

I took a glance to those who were watching. I bet they enjoyed it.
I bowed and winked at the boys who were staring at me then I run into the shower room. I didn't wait for the result. I  hope this day will end without a drama. I had fun but I'm not used to the attention that everyone was giving me back there.

While I was inside the bathroom, I heard that there was somebody who entered the room. I said "Hello! Airy is that you? Oh please answer me!
Is that you Devan? Girls, don't play this stupid game with me, it's 7 pm and I still have to go to work! You're creeping me out!"

I took a bath as fast as I could and went to my locker. To my surprise, the lock was broken and my clothes were missing. My God, where the hell are my clothes?

Somebody stole them. I'm just wearing this little towel to cover me. I gave my phone to Devan for safe keeping. How will I ever go out of this room now? I sat down and cried.

I've been looking for my sweet pea since this morning. I guess she was busy with the tutoring and editing of the school's papers. Later she'll be going to the bar to work. We skipped  breakfast together today because I have an early engagement with my father's business partner.

I went for an early jogging then had a few phone calls to make. I'm planning to surprise Mia at the bar. I've been checking her out several times in the bar but until now, it's not yet clear to me why she was avoiding Liam.

Neo said she saw her running that night. I noticed her running but I never had an idea what had happened. I don't know how to start a conversation about that topic to her but I guess, she'll open up when she's ready. Maybe she doesn't trust me enough.

Many girls and boys were in the gym. My team were enjoying the performance of the aspiring replacement of Thesla. Red said they started 30 minutes before I arrived. I was startled when most of the men were shouting "You nailed it girl!"

One boy shouted while doing  a lustful look, "Come on and shake that booty!"
To my surprise, the one doing the routine flawlessly was wearing a skyblue mini skirt paired with a blue top with white accent. This lady swayed her hips gracefully. I took a closer look and I confirmed that it was my sweet pea. Another man shouted "Can I have you in my bed tonight?!"

I pulled that man and I choked him in the neck while whispering in his ear, "Say that again and you'll end up 6 feet under the ground."
He said "Whoa man! I don't know that she's yours." I held him tighter and he was gasping for air.

Red stopped me and said "That's enough bro, I'll take care of him outside!" Then I again looked at my sweet pea who was having fun with her performance. I knew that she's killing it. Every movement teases me. She's like a Lotus Flower cookie in that Percy Jackson movie, which made them intoxicated.
I am intoxicated by her beauty inside and out. I've said this several times. This woman will be the death of me. I don't know how many men will I ever choke to protect her.

She ran after her performance. I planned to follow her after I talked to my team mates because our coach cancelled the training. I tried calling her but Devan answered my call saying, "She went to the shower room and she gave me her phone. I will return it later."
I replied, "I'll look  for her in the locker room and I'll be the one to give her phone. I'm planning to have a dinner with her before she goes to work." Devan said, "Ok Superman!"
I smiled and I knew that Mia has been sharing her bestriends about our moments together.

When I went to the locker, I heard someone crying. I kicked the door because I can't bear the thought that something happened to my sweet pea.
When the door was opened, she ran towards me and hugged me tightly. I said, "I'm enjoying the view and the moment sweet pea but why are you not yet dressed?"
She said, "Somebody stole my clothes!"
I answered "I'm just going to get my extra shirt and shorts and we'll go home." She said with a smile on her face, "I'm glad my Superman is here to save me once again."

I just made a phone call to Neo and since Neo is expert in hacking I told him to check the cctv footage so that I will know who did this to my sweet pea. Nobody will ever hurt my sweet pea and gets away with it easily. I'm sure whoever did this will pay.
