Just A Bittersweet Memory

Chapter 9- My Hero

I've been doing my usual routine for several weeks. I went to school every morning and I worked in the evening. It was exhausting for someone my age but for me, it was a challenge I have to face in order to fulfill my dream. Becoming a doctor is such a passion for me.

It is 6 am, I just have to grab this sandwich and drink my coffee to give me some boost to make me on the go all through out the day.
Am I excited to go to school?Of course,I'll be seeing Lewis. I've been noticing that he was staring at me a few times. Did I liked it?I don't just liked it but I loved it!Every stare just made me want to go near him and kiss him. Is this the scenario that I've been wanting to happen everytime I go to school? Yes! But no one has to know.
I won't even tell Airy and Devan because they won't stop teasing me.

Here I am inside our classroom! I'm so excited to see Lewis. He'll be sitting beside me because we are alphabetically arranged right? Such a lucky name that made me sit beside the hottest guy I've ever seen. Well, Liam is also hot but I only see him as a friend beyond that, Nah!He might have been sleeping with all the women in this class except for Airy who is now attracted to Red and Devan who enjoys Neo's company.

A few minutes before the bell rung, my Lewis entered the room. My female classmates were all looking at him. They looked like wild animals hunting for its prey. His eyes were directed to me and before he sat beside me he said "Good Morning my sweet pea!" I smiled, I felt the goosebumps and my face turned red while saying "Good Morning too, my hero!" Lewis said "Oh you really consider me your hero now my sweet pea?" I was choked with my saliva and I coughed and coughed. Oh my G,did I just said that "he's my hero"out loud? Did anyone in this room heard me? He said "That blush on your face turns me on sweet pea but remember, I can't be your Superman cause I'm not a good man but believe me,you're my kryptonite!"

The teacher said "Ok class, we will be having a quiz for today."Luckily, I reviewed few chapters last night.
So after the quiz. Lewis said "See you later sweet pea."

Airy and Devan asked me to have lunch with them.We went to the cafe together and there we saw Liam and his friends Peter who was Airy's ex and Reese who was Devan's ex. Small world right? Liam approached me and said he wanted to talk to me.

After eating Liam and I talked. Jessy was staring at me. Every stare feels like flying daggers heading towards me. Liam said "Can we meet by 9pm at the bar where you work?"
I said, "Wow, how did you even know where I was working?"
He said, "I have eyes everywhere princess!"

Many hours passed and it's time to go to work. Gosh, will they ever give me another uniform? I'm not comfortable in this short skirt but what choice do I have? Before I reach the bar, familiar cars were parked in the parking lot, the white lamborghini of Lewis and the red ferrari of Liam. These men can just take any girl they wanted anytime because of their good looks and fortune but I knew in my heart, both of them were good people.

It's 9pm, Liam asked me to go in the office. I was not even surprised that Martin is Liam's dad. They both have same features. Why did I not notice that during my interview earlier?

As I entered the office, Liam was sitting on he's dad's luxurious chair.
I said, "Hey what do you want to talk about?"
He said "Sit down". I was fidgeting with my pen. I felt uncomfortable. I said "How many drinks did you have Liam? I guess you had enough for tonight!" Liam said, "When will you be mine Mia?"

He stood up, closed and locked the door immediately."
I said "Liam, why did you lock the door? I feel very uncomfortable right now!"
He said "Mia, you've known me since I was young, what's wrong with me? I can get all the girls in just one snap but why can't I have you?"

I answered, "Liam I'm not some priced possession that you have to possess!I only see you as a friend!" Liam's eyes dilated as soon as he heard the word "friend" and he threw the glass of wine on the floor.
He said "So now I get to be friend zoned by you?"
He laughed! "Remember, YOU ARE MINE!" Liam was about to grab my left hand when Mr. Martin Vega entered the room just on time.
The room was locked but of course he had a key.

I said to Martin, "Phew, I'm glad you're here Sir. I was just looking out for Liam because he's drunk."

Mr. Martin Vega frowned and glared at Liam while saying "You can go home now Mia!"
I answered "But sir my shift ends in the morning." He said "It' s ok Mia, you can go home now and your salary won't be deducted! Thanks for taking care of Liam". I just thanked him and then went home earlier.

Lewis saw me running out of the bar. I hope he won't bother to ask me anything about tonight.

While I was walking, I felt a shadow following me but everytime I looked back, there was no one behind me. Maybe I'm still affected with what had happened. Tonight, I saw a different side of Liam. I knew that he was a sweet boy back then but I never knew that he has romantic feelings for me. I had a crush on him when we were younger like 13, but few years had passed, I only see him as a friend or a brother.

I reached my apartment, grabbed something to eat and showered. What had happened could've ended badly if Martin wasn't there on time.

When I was about to sleep, I remembered the encounter I had with Lewis this morning."My hero!"I do not even understand why he said he's not like superman but for me he's my everything. Am I falling for him? Oh no! It couldn't be. Falling in love is not my priority right now. I just have to enjoy this feeling.
