"What are you doing after school?" I ask Mags, taking a seat under the Willow tree.
"I don't know; nothing really." she answers, plopping down beside me.
"Wanna come with me to the pet store?"
"Yes!" A masculine voice shouts.
"I wasn't talking to you, Diego." I groan, sitting against the tree.
"I want to go." he pouts.
"Why do you wanna go?" Mags asks, rolling her eyes. "It's not like your momma will let you bring a pet home."
"I do what I want and she can't keep me from it." he concludes, crossing his arms.
"Yeah keep telling yourself that," Mags says, dryly. "but I've never seen you stand up to her."
"Because she's scary." Santiago says, laying down and resting his head on my lap. "D, momma will kill you if you bring home a hoe. If you bring a pet home she would kill you and resurrect you just to kill you again."
"Mommy loves me; she would never do such a thing." Diego concludes.
"Keep telling yourself that." Mahogany and Tia both retort.

"I want that one." I point to the adorable, little creature in the corner.
"What are you gonna name him?" Tia asks, leaning against a wall.
"Biscuit." I answer, the employee picks him up and places him in my hands.
"Really?" He looks at me as if it was the stupidest name in the world.
"Really." I answer, petting the tiny animal in my hands. "Hi there, biscuit."
"Aww, he's so cute." Mahogany coos, petting his back. "Let's go find a cage and food."
The three of us start walking through the store. "Why did you want a hedgehog, again?"
"I told you I want a pet and a hedgehog is the type for me." I answer him, picking up a bag of cat food. "Besides, he is so adorable." I lift Biscuit so he is level with Tia's face. "And he's smiling at you."
"I think you should have named him Sonic." he crosses his arms over his chest making his muscles bulge. I roll my eyes and start the search for biscuit's cage.
"Where did your brothers run off to?" I ask Mags and Santiago.
"They are probably somewhere doing something stupid." Tia says, earning a nod in agreement from Mags. "And most likely will get them, and maybe us, in trouble."
When I'm about to comment on the stupidness of their family members, a familiar voice echoes through the store. "Ugh." Mag sighs, when we reach the source. "What the fuck are you two doing?"
Ian and D look at each other than back at us and shrug. The two of them are currently playing with a pig and two kittens. Diego is sitting on the floor petting the pig while Ian is laying down with the cats on his stomach. "We were bored and found these little guys." Diego speaks up. He picks up the pig and shows it to Tia. "Can we keep him?"
"No,we can't fucking keep him!" Santiago shouts, frustrated. "Mom would kill you and then kill me for not killing you." Mahogany and I giggle earning a glare from Diego.
"He's not kidding." Ian says, petting the kittens. "Their mother is scary when she's mad."
"I wanna keep him." Diego groans.
"No!" Tia concludes. "Now put him back and meet us at the register."
"Same to you Ian." Mahogany comments, falling into step with Tia and I.
~*~
"Why do I have to carry it?" Tia whines, lifting the heavy cage from Mahogany's back seat.
"Because you're my best friend and you want to help me." I say, opening the front door.
Once Tia and Ian get the whole cage set up the five of us scatter around my room. "I still want that pig."
"Fine, than you go back to the pet store and get it yourself, but don't come to me when mom gets mad." Tia says to his brother, plopping down next to me.
"I wanna meet your mom," I comment, leaning my head on my pillow. "she seems interesting."
"Do you know Spanish?" Diego asks.
"Yeah, I'm not fluent but I dabble." I answer, shutting my eyes.
"You wanna come over on Friday?" They both ask at the same time.
"You two are so creepy." I shiver, opening my eyes.
"Do you wanna come or not?" They ask in perfect unison.
"Yeah." I nod. I stretch and lay my head down in Tia's lap.
"She will most likely love you." Diego sighs, closing his eyes.
"Why?" I ask, confused, before yawning.
"Because you're," he pause, wearing the most adorable thinking face. "you're you." The way he says 'you' isn't with disgust, rather with pleasure and acceptance. He says it in a sweet and kind way instead of rude.
"What he means is that you have a good personality." Santiago says, helping his brother out. "She love Mahogany because of how bubbly and real she is. Our mother would love you because you're a lot like her. You have thick skin and you're tough, but still manage to be sweet." He says before adding, "And you're smart unlike D."
"Yeah, what he- hey!" Diego comments, opening his eyes. "I am smart I just don't apply myself because I don't care." The boys start arguing over which of them is most intelligent, while Mags and I get up and go to the kitchen.
While we getting snacks I start thinking about what D said. Maybe Diego can be mature and respectful.
Maybe he just hides it to seem cool.
Maybe I don't quiet hate him any more; but I don't quiet love him either.
Looks like Kyle and Santiago and Diego are the only ones from their group I like. Although, Trevor seems ok I'll have to get to know him.
