Abby

"Abby? What are you doing here?"

"Your dad let me in. I thought you were hanging out with your family, not with her."

"I was hanging out with my family."

"Really? So what is she doing here?" I felt really bad. I didn't know she would show up, she told me to stay away from him.

"My mom just came back after being gone for about 9 years. The last time I saw her, I was 8." Abby looked guilty. "Nini is the one who brought her here. My mom wanted to invite Nini to a movie night so I invited her. It got late so she slept here."

"But why are you in the same bed?"

"Because I'm not gonna make her sleep on the floor and she wouldn't let me sleep on the floor. Anything else you want to know?"

"No, I'm sorry. I just got jealous. I didn't know about your mom."

"I accept your apology. Now why are you here?"

"I wanted to spend time with you, but since your mom is here I can leave."

"Okay, bye." When she left Ricky sat back in bed.

"Sorry, I didn't know she would show up."

"It's okay, I should probably get going anyway."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. My moms wanted to take me to see my grandma today."

"Will you say hi to Lola for me?"

"Of course." I got up and grabbed my stuff. "Bye Ricky."

"Bye Nini."

At wherever Lola lives

"Hi Lola!" I ran up and gave her a hug. "How have you been?"

"I've been good. How are you?"

"I'm okay. Oh, Ricky wanted me to say hi for him."

"Well, when you see him give him a hug for me."

"I will. Wanna play Uno?"

"Of course. I always wanna play with my granddaughter."

After playing Uno

"Lola? I have to tell you something."

"What is it sweetie?"

"Can we go somewhere private?"

"Yeah sure, let's go to the courtyard." When we got there I was really nervous about telling her, since I haven't told anyone yet. "What is it?"

"This is really hard to say but, I have, well had, a boyfriend."

"That's great, isn't it?"

"It was until...umm."

"What? What happened."

"He hurt me."

"What do you mean he hurt you?"

"He...he," I started crying. "He r-raped me." My grandma pulled her into arms while I kept crying.

"Hey, hey. It's okay. You're gonna be okay."

"How? How will I ever forget this?"

"You won't, but if we get you help, you can try your best to turn it into a strength instead of a weakness. Maybe we can get your a therapist, who will help you live with it."

"But I haven't even told my moms. How am I gonna explain why I'm going to therapy?"

"You don't, not until you are ready. Let them know that. Or if you want, I can tell them. But you're not alone in this, I will be with you through everything, I promise."

"Oh my god."

"What honey?"

"I haven't even told Ricky what happened. He's my best friend and I didn't tell him."

"Hey, you don't have to if you don't want to. If you trust him enough and want to tell him, you can, but if you don't, you don't have to."

"You're right. I'll tell him eventually, I just don't feel comfortable with it right now."

"And you don't have to, now let me get you my old therapists number and you can call them okay?"

"Okay." She grabbed a piece of paper before writing down a number. She handed it to me. "This number looks familiar."

"I don't think you know them. Now wanna go play Uno again?"

"Sure."

We walked back inside and kept playing Uno for a while. We had a lot of fun.
