Chapter 14
Kara's POV
"It nice to see you are doing well Princess." Mrs. Kingsley says stepping into the limousine. "Always a pleasure, Mrs. Kingsley." I smile back before greeting Mr. Kingsley and then Christopher. "Where is your daughter Mrs. Willow Samson? I heard she was staying with you this summer."
"Willow is but her husband came back early from his military service. She wanted to be with him today as tomorrow he is getting shipped out again." Mister Kingsley explains.
"Wish her the best for me," I politely say ending the conversation about his daughter. "May I ask something your highness?"
"Of course, Mrs Kingsley."
"I am wondering as to why you invited my family and not the King and Queen."
"My parents are busy with some matter today, so I thought this would be the perfect chance to know you better." I reply allowing myself to be comfortable around the normal family. In truth I am envious of the Kingsley family, they have it all: a normal life, money, and happiness. All the things I have wanted for all my life.
"Fix," Lily says glancing my way. Quickly I check my mint peplum top and push my white shorts down a little further before fixing the thick white with a gold metal strap around my ankle for my heels. "Here," Lily whispers thrusting a mirror in my face. I go over my foundations and eyeliner even my nude lips and fake eyelashes glued to me. This outing was just an outing meant to grab lunch or something. To act completely normal and real to the people around us.
"Ready your majesty?" The limousine driver, Henry, asks stopping the car at the best restaurant in all of the planet at least that is what I have heard. "Thank you, Henry." I say allowing the Kingsley family to exit the vehicle first. "Go," I whisper to Lily practically pushing her out.
"Princess! Princess! Your highness!" I hear people around me scream as we make our way into the restaurant. "Your highness." The hostess and owner bow as I wake in. "Please, today I am a paying customer no need for formalities." I quickly excuse them before the we take our seats in the private section of the restaurant. A black curtain between our section and that of the people. "Do you know if this opens?" I whisper to the waitress pointing at the thick curtain.
"I am sorry, your highness but the curtain does not open." The nervous waitress answers.
"Then I would love to sit out there."
"Let me grab the owner," the waitress quickly runs back to the front to grab the old elderly owner. "Kara, you know you can not possibly sit out there without guards." Lily tries to explain to me.
"I can handle myself, Lily, besides those are my people. I would love to sit with my people." I explain my reasons.
"I completely agree with you, your highness." Mrs. Kingsley says grabbing her bag and coat before exiting out of the room. "I'll meet you on the other side, your highness." Mr Kingsley replies leaving us teens in the curtained room.
"Princess Karolina, I heard there was a problem with your seating," an elderly couple swiftly enters the room. The elderly couple remind me of the people in a couple of Greta's painting on Earth and people that walked around our town. "Why yes, I would love to sit on the other side of this curtain, if that is possible."
"We can certainly accommodate your request."
Within minutes I am sitting in the middle of the restaurant with my friends. Being served X-Ian cuisine; food I have yet to be taste. With fellow strangers around me and paparazzi waiting patiently outside for me to step outside. "Your highness, while we are gathered here today. I was in request for another interview with you and your majesties." Mister Kingsley informs.
"Please, no business at this gathering. If you would like to talk business then we should all gather for a dinner at the Palace. For today lets just have fun." I reply taking a bite of the snail. That was the end of that conversation of business. Business is more of dad's and Lily's things.
"Thank you your highness for the meal. Everything was absolutely splendid." Mrs Kingsley says wiping the corners f her mouth with her cotton napkin. "Yes, splendid in deed." Mr Kingsley relaxation in his chair letting his softer side show.
"Your highness, we have an emergency at the palace we must tend to." Lily interrupts checking her phone. "Oh, what kind?"
"Personal very personal." Lily's worry face peered at me with such big emotion. My parents. Something is wrong with my parents. "Your highness we are devastated by the news." The waitresses/waiters, the owner and people around me bow out of respect for something.
"What's going on?"I look around the table confused. "Get the Princess and the Kingsley families out of here!" I hear shouting come from the entrance my personal guards rush in quickly escorting our group outside. "Lily! Lily!" I scream out. Surrounded by guards on all sides but people still take pictures of my freak out. They even pull and push trying to break me apart from the guard bubble. "What is going on?" I cry out asking the people who arrive after me.
"Henry, get us to the Palace quickly." Lily rushes out orders like a boss. "Calm her down. Kingsley get on your phone don't let anything be leaked out." Mrs Kingsley wraps her bony pale arms around me as I cry into her shoulder. I hear conversations whirl around me from an accident to orders for my arrival at the palace, even Christopher is on the phone persuading a news group to not release a statement.
Instead of taking the front public gate into the palace, we arrive in the private garage like building. We stop and Mrs Kingsley helps me out of the limousine. In front of me standing Miss Lauren, Greta, Hilda, my other maids and even my parents' assistant, all have that calm sadden tear stricken face of that of the people at the restaurant. "Kara, you need to come with me please." Greta's cracked voice rings out swiftly taking my hand. "What going on?"
"Something terrible has happened. Something that is going to change our kingdoms forever, but for now you need to come with me, Hilda and Miss Lauren." Calmly we make our way inside to the Palace. Instead of taking me to my room or the study like I thought they would. The group leads me to the medical wing. The medical wing is towards the front of the Palace a simple doctors office type of set up with a couple rooms. "Your Majesty." The doctors and nurse all bow out of respect. Majesty, majesty. They called me Majesty instead of Princess or Highness. "This way," One of the older doctors say leading us to a sterile white room. The room door says number three, entering to what looks like a operating room out of a hospital. In the middle of the room on metal beds were two bodies covered in a thick white blanket.
"NO! NO!" I scream out knowing what will happen next. "There was an accident on one of the bridges. Your parents were coming back to see you because of your sight when an accident happened. The driver tried to stop but the brakes gave out." Hilda explains as the group tried to calm me down. "I'm sorry, Kara." Greta cries out pulling me towards her broken body.
"Let me go! Let me go!" I yell out tugging away from their hugs. Running as fast as I can, I just want to get away. "Kara!?" I hear Lily's voice at the bottom of the stairs. I just run away from their hushed voices and whispers start to the one place I have never been to before.
The official throne room.
