Liza has bugged me for five days now. It's been five days since I haven't seen Cassie. I miss her. More than ever.
She's being all gushy since Cassie is, like, my first crush. Girls usually chase me I don't have to go after them. But she is different and enigmatic.
Liza's planned this all out though she is not telling me. It's all about how I'm gonna confess, where I'm gonna confess, what I'm gonna say. I think she's more nervous than I am.CASSIE
I was in my room, reading, when Ron came barging in, excitement covering every corner of his face. "Cassie. There's someone at the door for you with a big, big parcel!"
Fan of gifts and surprises? That's my brother.
I stand up and go to the door, nonchalantly. I'm that way almost all the time. It's been a week since I haven't seen Wesley. He hasn't been coming to work lately.
At the door, there's a man in his twenties, holding a big white package. I take it from him, do the formalities and head in.
I squeeze the package. Huh. It's soft and squeezable. It's fun.
I unpack it. Inside are a million marshmallows of different but cute colors. I check the package to see who it came from. There's a letter there somewhere. I open it and...
Gasp.
It's from Wesley Evans.
There's only one Wesley I know.
The one I like like.
I read the letter.
Cassie,
I know, pretty old school right. Since Liza is the only girl I know and shares the same interest in girls as I do, and is also really lovey-dovey, I was forced to do this. But believe me all this is coming straight from my heart. So. The. Thing. Is. That. That. That...I like you! I like like you. I've since a long time. And I wanted to take you out. So, You in?
PS- I spent a lot on these marshmallows, so please be considerate and don't reject me, *insert puppy face*. I'm usually not the one to chase after girls, but you're special, eh? Also, I'm way better than that red head.
With love, yours,only yours
Wesley Evans
What the hell just happened? Am I dreaming? Oh my God. Oh dear Lord, Did Wes, the Wes I like, confess to me? The Wes who knows my past, the Wes who made me change back into my old self, The Wes I know, the Wes who is comfortable with me.
Aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhh.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
My life's getting back on track or what? This is just so unbelievable. Wes likes me, I like Wes, omg I'm in a dreamland. Fantastic. Stupendous. Beautiful.
I gave all my marshmallows to Ron, how can I ignore his puppy face. To be honest, I was so happy that I didn't really care about eating those marshmallows (Sorry Wes) and just danced. Danced and danced. It feels like I've been dancing since hours.
A few hours of dancing and swooning later, the door bell rings. I go over to the door dancing like what I think would be swan, and open the door. My heart stops beating. Because of happiness.
It's Wes.
He's wearing a hoodie(I guess he thinks I'm in love with hoodies or something and he's wearing it to impress me. Whatever. It's working.), black slacks, sneakers. His hair disheveled as always. His face sharp and cut as always. His mucles strong although his vibe? Not so much. He suits the character of a lanky guy. The geeky one. He- he. I don't mind.
He has a shy smile on his face and his cheeks are flushed red. There's also a tinge of pink in his ears but it's probably due to cold. Oh, who am I kidding? It's summer! He's blushing because of me.
Eeeeeeee.
Wait, ew. I never thought of myself as a squealing type. Guess I am. Huh. Crushes change everyone.
"Cassie? Did you get my note?"
I look at him, clearly feeling my cheeks burn red. If gaining weight was like blushing, I would have been heavier than earth.
I duck my head and answer him,"Yes. Yes, I did. And, um, Wes? You never had competition with Adam, you know, the redhead, since, like, he's gay." I press my lips together to prevent laughing.
It seems like all the red shades have come together and given their colour to Wesley's face. He is seriously red. Aw. So cute.
I look into his eyes and ask,"You're here why?"
He smirks,"Oh. Well, for me 'take you out' means to take one on a date. Clearly, it's not the same for you, eh?"
Ohhhhh. Oh. I get why he's here. He's here to take me out.
Ah.
Well, stupid, I am.
I laugh."Oh, it's all the same. Wait. I'll just get ready. You wanna come inside?"
He accepts my offer of politeness and makes himself comfortable.
I smile to myself as he engages in a heated conversation with Ron and head to my room to get ready.
I think about what to wear for a while and come across the perfect outfit.
I put on the same white hoodie and black shorts and pair of pink converse we bough together. I put on the same pink gloss and little make up we bought together. I tie my hair, now grown to my shoulders, in a sporty and cute half-bun. I head out with my head held high.
Wesley looks me up and down and gestures towards his car. When we are out of anyone's earshot, Wes whispers in my ear softly, "Hey there, marshmallow! I didn't know you liked my fashion sense that much. For the record, you look sweet."
I murmur my thank you and we make our way, together, to god knows where.
