Chapter 16

Days.

It took days for us to search every single spell book in the God-damned town and still nothing. There was nothing about the curse, nothing about the symptoms of the curse, nothing about the cure to the curse.

It was like someone had created the curse specifically for her.

But who would do that?

Why would they?

Everybody in town loves Lexi. Nobody would actually plan on killing her.

This whole thing was just stumping me.

I needed some air.

I walked out of the library and down to the beach to where we shared many memories. I sat in the sand, the wind blowing against my side and I pulled my sleeves down a little farther to cover my hands.

I sighed and looked out at the water. She'd love to be in the water right now. It was the perfect time of day where the tide was just right for jumping over waves.

The water... maybe it could cure her. Or somebody under the water could cure her. Maybe it was a curse by a sea monster. All I know is, Hook is pissed off at me, Lexi's practically dead, the boys are grieving yet another loss and a majority of the town is trying to find a cure.

"Peter, Peter! We found something!" Henry yelled, running up to me. I stood up quickly and grabbed the papers out of his hands.

I read them over. "You've got to be kidding me. How did she get into town?" I asked him.

Henry shrugged. "Mom must have given her the scroll. That's the only possible way."

I nodded. So, technically it's either Regina or Emma's fault for the curse. And with the wicked sea witch in town, that means that there are other villains in tow.

Well, maybe not Regina and Emma's fault exactly, but they let the Sea Witch in and now we have to find out how to save Lexi while facing the Queens of Darkness.

I stormed straight into Granny's where Cruella and Ursula were waiting for their drinks. "You."

Both women turned to me. "Well my my, isn't it our dear little Peter Pan! What are you doing here, so far away from Neverland?" Ursula asked me, a hand on my cheek.

I swatted her away. "I'll be the one asking you questions."

"Ooh, feisty as ever. I knew I liked this one," Cruella said.

I glared at her but continued. "You put a curse on Lexi, Sea Devil. Why? What has she ever done to you?"

"Oh the precious little pirate girl of yours? Hook's spawn? It was revenge on her father. I never meant to harm you, sweetheart. Only him." Ursula spoke in an almost regretful manner.

"Well whatever it is, take it off her!!! You're killing her! The only reason she's not dead is because she doesn't have her heart!" I yelled.

The diner went quiet. Everybody looked at me. I continued to glare at the Sea Witch.

"She what?" Ursula repeated.

"She doesn't have her heart, so she can't die! You need to lift the curse so she doesn't die!" I exclaimed.

"No can do, sweetheart. The curse can't be lifted. Unless..." Ursula teased.

I wanted to turn away and walk out, but I was desperate. "Unless what?"

"Unless an act of true love, or true love's kiss. Just like all curses, true love can save it all." Ursula replied.

There was a trick to it, there always was. She wouldn't be giving out information unless she wanted something. "And why did you tell me all of this?"
