"I thought you said this was going to be a small get-together!" Ryan complained, nearly shouting to be heard over the loud dubstep music blasting through the room. "Just a short little meet-up at a high school friend's dorm!"
"That's what it's supposed to be!" Brendon defended himself.
"THEN WHY IS HALF THE DARN SCHOOL HERE?!" Ryan shrieked.
"I DON'T KNOW!" Brendon shrieked back.
The two fell silent as they gazed into each other's eyes. Ryan felt his annoyance melt away as he stared into Brendon's brown orbs. It was like staring into the abyss, but in a good way. He was sucked in by the sheer beauty of Brendon's eyes. They shone with life and happiness and hope, everything that Ryan had given up on after his first miserable year of college.
Brendon's eyes were what had first drawn Ryan to him. Sure, he was good-looking and had an angelic voice and a contagious smile and was probably one of the sweetest people alive, but Ryan had been drawn to his eyes. The eyes were supposedly the window to the soul. If that were true, then Brendon's soul was the purest and most magical soul out there.
A sudden click caused Ryan and Brendon to jump. Ryan glanced around only to see Jon, his roommate, leaning against the wall a couple of feet away from Brendon and Ryan, casually sipping a coke.
"We're having a moment," Ryan growled, glaring daggers at Jon.
Jon shrugged indifferently. "I'm having a Cola."
Ryan rolled his eyes.
"I'm actually pretty thirsty," Brendon said. "I'm gonna get a CapriSun. Be right back!"
Brendon dashed off, leaving Ryan with Jon.
"Your boyfriend is roommates with Spencer, right?" Jon asked suddenly.
"Yeah," Ryan replied.
"Can you, uh...can you tell him to put in a good word for me?" Jon asked, sounding slightly nervous.
"Aw, does someone have a crush on Spencer?" Ryan teased.
Jon glowered.
"Lighten up, Walker. I'll tell him to hook you two up," Ryan chuckled.
Jon huffed. "Thanks, I guess."
Ryan grinned. "No problem. Now I gotta go find my boyfriend before he drinks all the CapriSun. He can never just settle for one or two. It has to be the whole box in one sitting."
"Good luck!" Jon called as Ryan disappeared into the crowd.
