🚫🚫WARNING:SUICIDE MENTION🚫🚫

I followed my instincts and ran over, “you think you can do whatever you want because your last name is Stronghold!” I held my hands out signing as fast as I could, “Warren it was an accident Lash pushed him.” I sent a glare Lash’s way knowing my eyes were glowing. “I’m sorry my dad put your dad in jail.” I sent Will an exasperated look throwing my hands up into the air. Warren grabbed Will by his shirt, “nobody talks about my father.” I scurried out of the way as his hands caught on fire and I immediately looked around for sources of liquid if things got out of hand I quickly rushed in front of Warren after he had thrown a fireball at Will which resulted in a melted tray he glared at me, “get out of my way Blake.” I shook my head at him I noticed Will try and run for the fire alarm and Lash tripped him and I lost focus on Warren as I turned towards Lash with a fireball in hand he hive fived Speed and I growled quietly to myself throwing the fireball at him causing him to yelp as he ducked.

I pushed Will out of the way as another fireball made its way towards him and I let out a scream of pain as it made contact with my skin. This made Warren hesitate but his eyes turned to Will and he powered up again. Will had grabbed a fire extinguisher and pulled the top of it off, dousing Warren in the substance inside before he crouched down cradling me in his arms as I whimpered in pain as his shirt brushed against my arm. There was clicking of heels and then Principal Powers spoke, “Mr. Stronghold go get the nurse then come to the detention ward.” I followed her to the detention ward behind Warren not uttering a single word not even sparing him a glance. The nurse rushed over to me and Warren was pushed into the cell along with Will and I knew the moment I was patched up I was entering with them she applied a cold cream to the burn then wrapped it handing me a wet wipe to clear my face of blood, “that’ll help a bit dear but I recommend going to a hospital after school to get proper care for it.” I smiled at her nodding and I entered the detention center, “your mom would be so disappointed in you Miss Kitsch using your power like that.”

I held back tears at her statement and Warren growled, “you don’t say that to her.” he pulled me into his arms and I sniffled as I grabbed onto his jacket letting the tears soak into his black shirt underneath a little shocked at how he was acting protective of me, “it’s a waste of talent if this is how you’re gonna treat your powers Mr. Peace now I’ll be back after I’ve thought you’ve learned your lesson.” her heels clicked out of the room and the seal of the door closed with a thump. I peeled myself away from Warren and sat in the seat farthest from them, “you know she’s wrong right?” I shook my head, “no she’s not my mom would be disappointed.” my voice cracked and I looked over at them through tears and Warren’s mouth was open in shock, “I thought-” I cut him off, “I feel safe around you I know you two would never truly hurt me on purpose.” I didn’t need to tell him why I felt safe around until we got to know each other and if he shows any signs of liking me back.

We sat in silence before Will spoke, “you this thing between our-” I looked up, “Will stop talking about his dad it obviously opens some wounds so stop rubbing salt into them.” Warren looked at me thankfully but I looked back down, “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to hurt you.” I smiled a little, nodding, “I know it was my choice to push Will out of the way.” I went to move closer to them but my phone buzzed and I pulled it out of my pocket seeing there was a single message from Skye I opened it, “I need you.” my heart started to beat hard in my chest as that only meant one thing, “hold on I’ll be there as soon as possible.” I raced to the door and started to bang on it in a panic. The door opened and I sprinted out the door shoving past Principal Powers, ignoring the shouts of everyone and ran to the closest exit and jumped from the edge of Sky High adjusting my body so I’d fall faster. Tears were streaming down my face as I panicked. I slowed as I saw the ground approaching. I set myself down as gentle as possible before sprinting in the direction of her house.

The door was locked so I grabbed the spare key from under the plant on the porch and I slammed the door open, “SKYE!” my throat protested the shout and started to hurt as I continued to shout, “SKYE!” There was no reply and tears started to fall harder and I attempted to enter the bathroom only to find it locked, “Skye open the door or I’m kicking it in.” There was no reply making my heart drop and I kicked in the door to see her laying in the bathtub with the water bright red, “no no no this can’t be happening.” I tapped her face, “Skye c’mon I need you.” I grabbed my phone and dialled 911, “what’s the address of your emergency?” I panicked and my sobs almost made it impossible to decipher what I said, “ma’am I’m sorry can you repeat that.” I took a breath, “the address is 22B Baker Street I need an ambulance please.” I sobbed again placing the phone on speaker as I cradled Skye in my arms ignoring the blood that smeared onto me there was a thud from downstairs, “POLICE DEPARTMENT!”

I untangled myself from Skye and walked to the top of the steps. I probably looked like a mess with blood smeared on me and my makeup running down my face, “my friend.” I crumbled to my knees letting out a scream, “she’s gone.” I sobbed and I was cradled in the arms of one of the police officers, “I need you to tell me what happened sweetie.” I shook my head and she lifted me onto my feet, “we need to take you to the station for questioning.” I protested, “Skye I need to be there.” she shook her head, “there’s nothing we can do as you said she’s gone.” I let her guide me out to the squad car staring blankly face bare of any emotion as shock started to hit me. My best friend is now gone because I couldn’t get here in time. It's all my fault. I stared blankly out the window the entire trip to the police station.
