I was laying with my head on Warren's chest as he was doing homework and I noticed a mistake so I pointed it out, "that's spelled wrong and you missed a comma right there." he huffed, erasing both mistakes and fixing them, making me chuckle. There was a knock on the door, "hey we got back your CT scan results and it seems there's no permanent brain damage which is a good sign so we're going to do an MRI to make sure there's no eternal bleeding." I threw the blanket off of my legs and sat up quietly groaning as the pain in my ribs increased.
I got up and got into the wheelchair, "can you go get something for us to eat please." I gave Warren puppy eyes and he sighed, getting up putting his textbook aside, "only because I love you." I smiled as he kissed me, "thank you." the nurse chuckled as she pushed me down the hall, "that boy has it bad for you." I looked down while playing with my fingers and a smile grew on his face, "yeah and I'm just as in love as he is." she hummed, "I remember my first love oh how great it felt."
She let out a soft sigh as though she was reminiscing. We came to a stop in front of a door and I pressed the handicap button making the doors open and she pushed me forward into the room and a machine that looked similar to the CT scan machine sat in the middle of the room. I sat on the movable bed piece taking a deep breath, "alright lay down for me sweetheart." I followed her instruction laying flat on my back, "alright so it'll make a whirring noise but it won't be nearly as loud as your CT yesterday but I still need you to be as still as possible for me alright this process will take about ten minutes."
I nodded, closing my eyes trying to force myself to relax and she began to push me into the machine. Luckily time flew by and she pulled me from the machine, "see that wasn't so bad now was it?" I shook my head, "could've been worse for sure." I sat back in the wheelchair and allowed her to push me back to my room where Warren was waiting with Wendy's making me chuckle, "I didn't know what you wanted so I got you a spicy chicken salad." I smiled, getting comfortable as I could on the uncomfortable hospital bed.
"That's perfectly fine with me." I grabbed the salad and the dressing from him, removed the chicken and placed it on a napkin on my bedside table before pouring the dressing on the lettuce then resealing the container and shaking it for a moment. I re-added the chicken, mixing it up then took a bite, humming, "thank you." he nodded. I ate half of the salad before sealing the container and placing it on my bedside counter, "so what rumours have started?" he lifted a brow, "rumours?" I chuckled, "I haven't been to school in a week now and it's high school so I know there's some kind of rumour if not more floating around."
He sighed, "some people are saying you left town but that's all I heard." I lifted a brow, "that's it?" he nodded, "that's it I swear." I hummed, "I kinda hoped it was a little more interesting but oh well." he laughed at me making me smile, "you're a strange one Blake." I shrugged, "Miss.Kitsch?" I looked to the doorway, "that's me." An older woman wearing typical scrubs with a white doctor coat stepped into the room, "I am Dr.Smith and I will be your caretaker while Dr.Lahey is off duty." I nodded and she checked my chart.
"We haven't gotten your MRI results back yet but we do have the x-rays and it looks as though your wrist has a hairline fracture." She looked over the chart again, "your CT scans look good." she took a step forward, "on a scale of one to ten how painful is this?" she pressed around the laceration above my eyebrow, "probably a two it's more of a dull ache than anything." she nodded, jotting that down, "alright and this?" she gently pressed against my injured wrist and I shrugged, "four at most it doesn't hurt too much unless I move it the wrong way."
She nodded, writing that down as well, "alright let me just listen to your heartbeat and I'll get out of your hair." I leaned forward moving my hair out of the way, "alright deep breaths for me." I did as she requested, "alright perfect everything sounds good." she noted a few things, "so your nurse Clarissa requested for you to have some time outside and I will sign off on it when we get your MRI back if it's clear of any internal bleeding." I nodded, "thank you." she nodded, placing the chart on the end of my bed, "also you have a visitor."
I smiled, "alright let them in." she nodded and left my line of vision and a few moments later Josie appeared in the doorway holding a bag, "hey Josie what're you doing here?" she smiled at me and opened the bag pulling out a proper comforter, "I know how uncomfortable these hospital blankets can be so I thought I'd swing by and bring something a little better." I gave her a thankful smile, "thank you I appreciate it I do but you didn't have to do that." she shrugged, "it was my pleasure." she smiled at Warren, "thank you Josie." she nodded then headed out leaving Warren and I alone again.
