Y/N POV
Home.
When some people think of the word home, they think of wherever they live. They think it's just a house or apartment. That's not what home is to me.
Home is waking up in the morning next to the man of my dreams, though his hair is messy and has really bad morning breath. Home is five crazy children that tear apart the living room right after I clean it, but will also pick me flowers from the garden. Home is game nights, even though most of the kids don't follow the rules. Home is movie nights, although Frank and I almost always fall asleep during them.
Home is the happiness you find inside the madness. Home is all of the sleepless nights and little fights, but also the smiles and laughter. Home is all of the imperfections within it all. Home is the place you will always want to return to when you're away.
For me, home is my family. Home is Frank. Home is Katarina and Jasper. Home is Cherry, Lily, and Miles. No matter where we may live, they are my home.
It's not something I thought I would find again. I never thought I'd be happy again, but here I am. I pushed through all of the pain and sadness and found peace and love. I feel whole again, because of the six of them.
It's two weeks since we moved in and now that we're completely settled in, things feel even more perfect than before. Our schedules aren't much different than they were before, only needing to leave a few minutes earlier to get the kids to school.
It's safe to say the kids are happy here though. The kids each have their own bedrooms, and even though they aren't fully used to it yet, they love having their own space.
"Mommy?" A young voice whispered behind me. "I don't feel good."
"What's wrong, baby?" I picked Lily up and felt her forehead. "Baby, you're burning up. Let's stay home today, okay?"
I carried her to mine and Frank's bedroom and laid her on the bed, then went to find Frank.
"Hey, babe?" I said as I knocked on the bathroom door.
"What's up?" He questioned as he opened the door.
"Do you mind taking the kids to school today? Lily's sick, so I'm going to call my boss and tell him I can't come in so I can stay home with her. Miles can stay here to then, give them the day off."
"Yeah, that's fine, where is she?" He asked worriedly.
"Up in our room." Him and I walked back to our room, him rushing to her side.
"What's wrong, honey?" He knelt down beside her and ran his fingers through her hair.
"My tummy hurts." She frowned.
"I'm gonna go call my boss real quick, I'll be back." I told Frank before leaving the room.
Frank POV
"Think our plan is going to work, Lils?" I smirked as Y/N left.
"I hope so. I don't like putting heating pads on my head, daddy." She sighed, causing me to laugh.
"Just make sure you continue to act sick, okay? Don't let her suspect anything." I quickly kissed her on the forehead, then got up to leave, "I love you, have a great day off."
"I love you too, daddy." She smiled, then buried herself back into the covers.
I left the room and made sure Kat, Jasper, and Cherry were ready to go, grabbed my wallet and keys, and said goodbye to my love.
"We're heading out. Let me know if you need anything, okay?" I hugged Y/N and felt her nod in response, "I love you so much."
"I love you too, babe. Have a good day at work." I quickly kissed her then turned back to the kids.
"Off to school!"
The four of us walked out of the house and got in the car. Once we were all strapped in, I started the car and pulled out of your driveway.
"So you guys remember the plan, right?" I asked the three.
"Yep!" The replied simultaneously.
"She's gonna be so happy, daddy!" Kat beamed.
"I sure hope so."
Y/N POV
I had already informed my boss that I wasn't coming in, so I changed back into my pajamas and went to lay back in bed with Lily. We let Miles continue to sleep since he was staying home with us, so I figured we could just have a lazy day around the house.
If it were any other reason, I'd be annoyed considering I had already done my hair and makeup for work, but I'm more worried about my daughter than that.
I turned on the tv, but turned the volume down a bit so I wouldn't wake Lily up.
"Momma?" Lily whispered.
"I'm sorry, love, did I wake you up?" I asked.
"No, you didn't." She wiggled closer to me, then curled into my side. "I'm glad you're my new mommy."
"I'm glad I'm your new mommy too. Just don't forget about your actual mommy." I smiled sadly.
"I don't. I don't remember her much though. I remember her smile. Daddy says I have her smile." She grinned, showing me how Jamia's smile must have looked. "But I think my mommy would want you as my new mommy."
"I hope so, love." She threw her arm over me and laid her head on my shoulder.
"What about Kat and Jas's daddy? Would he like my daddy?" Lily had never asked about Mikey before, so I was a little surprised.
"He would've loved your dad." I replied. Before Frank, and even a little bit after getting to know him, Mikey had been a touchy subject. Now, I think I had finally accepted it. I would always love him, but I'm at peace with it now.
"Good, because I love you and daddy a lot."
"I love you too. How are you feeling now?" I asked, feeling her forehead, "You're not too warm anymore. Does your tummy still hurt?"
"Yeah, a little bit." She sighed.
"Well I'll go make you some toast and check to see if your brother is up yet. I'll be back." I carefully moved her off of me and tucked her back in. Before I went to the kitchen, I checked to see if Miles was awake yet, which he was.
"Hey, buddy. You want breakfast?" I asked as I sat on the edge of his bed.
"Yeah." He mumbled sleepily.
"You wanna help?" He shot up and nodded excitedly. I picked him up and carried him down the stairs with me. He always loved making breakfast with me. I'd let him drop the bread into the toaster or stir the pancake batter, nothing difficult and/or dangerous.
"Alright, Lily is sick so we're going to make her some toast and take it up to her. Go ahead and drop the bread in." I handed him the two pieces of bread as I continued to hold him on my hip. He leaned closer to the toaster and did as directed, his small grin never leaving his face.
"Can I have toast too, mommy?" He begged.
"Of course you can!" I grabbed more bread and handed it to him, repeating what we had already done.
Once the toast was ready and prepped to their liking, we headed back upstairs to my bedroom where we would continue our lazy day.
