Y/N POV

I had just finished making the potato salad when my son and daughter came down the stairs. My daughter wore a pink tank top with a jean skirt while my son wore jean shorts and a red plaid button up shirt. I had braided Kat's hair, Jas's was combed neatly to the side.

"I'm so excited, mommy!" Katarina exclaimed as she hugged my leg. "Cherry, Lily, Jas, and I are gonna be best friends forever and you and Mister Frank are gonna be best friends too!"

"And what about his son, Miles?" I asked. Frank had informed me that he has a son two years younger than the girls.

"He can be our best friend when he's older. He's too young right now, I don't want to accidentally hurt him!" I smiled at her response. She may be rambunctious, but she still cares about others' safety.

"Well I think Miles would lover to play in the sandbox with you four. Please try to include him, okay?" She nodded and then ran off to tell Jasper.

I took the numerous salads to the back yard. I had everything set up on a fold-up table under a canopy we've had set up for a few years. I made sure I had placed a tablecloth down before placing any food down.

Frank and his children should be arriving any minute, so I started cooking the veggie burgers I bought for Frank and I. The hot dogs were almost done, cooking on the bottom rack, while I had the veggie burgers on the top rack. I was always careful when it came to possible contamination between the two.

I heard the doorbell ring and closed the lid to the grill. I went inside and opened the front door, showing Frank, Cherry, Lily, and a sweet little three-year-old, whom I assumed to be Miles.

"Hey, guys! Come in, make yourselves at home. The food is almost done." I said as I held the door open for them.

"Thank you so much for doing this. All four of us really appreciate it. The kids really need some social interaction." He chuckled. "Y/N, this is Miles. Miles, this is Y/N. Can you say hi?"

I could already tell Miles was kind of shy, reserved. He hid his face in his father's neck, but I still talked to him.

"It's very nice to meet you, Miles. I'm sure my kids would love to meet you as well, once you're comfortable with it." I smiled as he slowly turned back to look at me. He smiled slightly before laying his head back down on Frank's shoulder.

"I'm going to check on the food. You can come out if you'd like or stay in and make yourself comfortable. It's up to you, but we are definitely eating outside." I said to Frank, smiling brightly. I turned and went back outside.

"Mommy, do you think that boy will want to play with me?" Jasper whispered to me.

"He's a little shy but I think once he comes around, he would love to." Ever since Jasper's father died, he's had no 'boy' time, considering he's only really been around Kat and I. Now that Cherry and Lily are around, I feel as if he may be a little overwhelmed. Hopefully Miles accepts Jasper, for both their sakes.
