NOTE: I'm really struggling with ideas now. So for now, I'm just going to go with another Soulmate AU. You get a tattoo when you reach the age of 21 that is unique to you and your soulmate. Let me remind you this is an AU, so I can (and will) change things up a bit. Enjoy.
Gil was staring at the tattoo on his upper thigh in the mirror. He was in one of the new apartments given to villain kids when they came into Auradon. He roomed alone because he didn't want to have anyone around him. He was used to being on his own, so why change now.
Ben, Mal, Evie, Doug, Jay, Lonnie, Carlos, Jane, Harry and Uma often came over to be with him. But that still didn't mean he wasn't alone. He knew his friends were there for him, but he craved a soulmate.
Lately it seemed like everyone had found theirs:
Mal had Ben and visa versa. Evie was with Doug. Carlos and Jane were together. Jay and Lonnie were going get together soon. Uma had gotten with Harry.
Gil was alone.
"I always was. And I always will be."
He never had a good childhood, but that wasn't unusual on the isle. It was common knowledge you got the tattoo at age 21. Everyone knew that. Gil loved his - it meant that he did have a soulmate somewhere out there.
Anyway, everyone was coming over to Gil's place. Today was the day they would be celebrating Jay's birthday. He was turning 21 - the age he would get the tattoo. Gil didn't want them around for it. He didn't to know the devastating truth - it wasn't going to be his.
You see, Gil had a crush on Jay. Not had, has. He has been in love with the Arabian boy since they were about 3 or 4. Everyone knew Jay would be getting Lonnie's. And yet, they still wanted to celebrate the day. Their entire group (except Jay) was 21 or older. The oldest actually being Gil at the young yet old age of 24.
Many people believed Uma was the oldest one followed by Mal. Heck, even they believed that she was the oldest one. Gil knew that it was actually he that was the oldest. But he didn't want to lose the only people who seemed to care about him.
Before he could sink further into his thoughts, the door bell rang. Gil pulled on a pair of long pants and opened the door. One by one the others all came in. Making their way into the lounge and settling down somewhere.
Gil remained standing where he was, standing half hidden in the shadows of the doorway. He didn't really want to be around them, but he had to be. So here he was, stuck with a bunch of people he didn't want to be near for the day.
Life wasn't fair, but you have got to keep moving on. Soon enough, the time came for Jay to go into another room. Gil lead him into his bedroom. He paused at the door as he was leaving.
"If you need someone, just call."
Jay nodded and Gil made his way back downstairs. After an hour or so of wasting time, Jay came down the stairs. He made his way slowly into the lounge and sat on the couch. An unusual glint in his eyes that made Gil slightly turned on (not that he could let anyone know).
Everyone shifted uneasily as his gaze swept over the room. Jay's eyes resting on each person and staring into their soul before moving onto the next of the gathered group. Lonnie walked over to him, but he pushed her away.
"I don't have your tattoo."
They asked him to prove it. It was common knowledge that soulmates had tattoos in the exact same place. Lonnie's was on the back of her neck. She showed them the flying hawk. Jay turned around and showed the back of his neck.
It was blank.
Gasps echoed the room before everyone began to show their tattoos. They were all trying to figure out whose it could be.
Mal and Ben had bands on their wrists - Jay didn't.
Evie and Doug had matching ankle ones of the planets - he didn't have that one either.
Carlos and Jane had braid designs on their upper arms - it wasn't that one.
Uma and Harry looked down, faces flushed red. Everyone stared at them. The son of Hook pointed behind him and the teal-haired female explained.
"Blue, red and black conch shells on the left butt-cheek arranged in three interlocking triangles."
Jay shook his head. Gil decided to settle with a description.
"A black and white french bulldog in a ring of blue and pink coloured flowers. Upper right thigh."
Jay looked at him incredulously. Gil shifted his weight uncomfortably from one foot to the other. Mal ushered the others out. They all left - all except Jay and Gil. The latter was nervous, but he tried not to show it too much.
Jay pushed Gil into the wall and stood right in front of him.
"Show me."
His voice left no room for argument. Gil felt that he had to comply. He took off his pants and boxers so Jay could see his tattoo. Jay stared at his tattoo and traced it lightly with his fingers before pulling away and taking off his pants and boxers.
Their tattoos matched.
Gil was extremely happy, but desperately sad. He knew Jay wanted Lonnie. He knew it. He turned his head down, not want to see Jay's disgusted face. Jay pulled his head up. He slowly leaned forwards.
He made sure Gil enough time to stop it, if he wanted. Gil didn't. He didn't want it to stop. Their lips met in a soft, sweet kiss. They pulled away and looked deep into each other's eyes. Jay groaned and pulled Gil back into another searing lip lock.
His hands began to roam across Gil's body. Gil's own hands entangled in Jay's long hair. The boys were passionately making out. Stopping briefly to take off their shirts before they were at it again. They went the whole way. Everything.
They were together and that's all that mattered.
