Hil (part one)

NOTE: This is a Soulmate AU. You can hear everything your soulmate sings. This is set during D2 and is written in first person form from Gil's point of view. It's about 300 words short. There will be a part two. Enjoy.

I joined in the dance as Captain Uma sang about being in power. We were all having fun, messing around, when I realised something.

You see, people can hear whatever their soulmate sings in their head. I wasn't quite sure who mine was, but I had a feeling I knew who it was.

"Yeh know what they say, bad girls have all the fun,

Never learned how to count, 'cause I'm number one.

Ready here we come, we always get our way,

It's a pirates life, every single day, hey.

She's the captain, I'm the first mate,

Enemies seasick, can't see straight,

Call 'em fishbait, throw 'me on a hook,

Uma's so hot, they get burned if they look."

I knew it. Harry Hook is my soulmate. It gets better, he's in love with Uma. Our captain. Yay. What joy. Note the excessive sarcasm.

I sighed and frowned. I breathed in and out several times heavily before turning and leaving the place. I couldn't be there, not when he was.

I stood in an alley only a few blocks away from the shop. What I didn't know was that he'd followed me. He'd seen me go and decided to follow me.

I was only made aware of the decision when he spoke.

"What're yeh doin' 'ere, lad?"

I shrugged nonchalantly. I didn't want to talk to him. He began to hum an old sea shanty under his breath, but I heard it loud and clear.

It was beginning to annoy me. Him. Just standing there as though there was nothing wrong in the world at all. He came and sat down next to me.

I turned away from him. He frowned at that and placed a hand under my chin, forcing me to look at him. I stared into his ice blue eyes. The silence was deafening until he spoke.

"Why 'ave yeh been avoidin' meh, Gil?"
