Chapter 12

Chapter 12: Pack

It was a week after Zan signed the contract at Mr. Hwang's shop when he and his sister have a talk. It was a long week for Zan and he's happy to see his sister enter the door at the old stable with a small smile at her face that is almost unnoticeable.

"Spring? Did you have a good day?" Zan asked his sister as she put her familiar on her own bed.

"Oo Kuya Zan. Autumn and I have been bonding over plants and potions. Because of her affinity to air she doesn't have much magic to create one but she's really well knowledgeable since lumaki sya sa shop ni Mr. Hwang." Zan nodded at this fact.

"It's really nice to see you having someone as your friend." Spring looks at her brother for a moment then gave him a smile.

Indeed, even Spring never thought it can happen, of her having a friend. Autumn is honestly more of a blessing to her than a friend.

"Oo nga pala Kuya Zan, Autumn made me these." Spring brought out a necklace from the pockets inside her coat.

"She told me it was a communication charm. Autumn made these for me to connect to you pag bumalik ka na sa Academy." Zan accepted the charm with his hand and immediately inspected it.

"This is reallt well-made. The magical trace is very faint." He cannot help but to be in awe. Zan knows that Autumn is an Elemental and from his observation with her and his sister, their magic and magical aura are really impressive. Not to mention that they can hide the traces of their magic signature.

Still in awe with the charm, Zan put it on his neck and immediately feel the faint connection of it to Spring's compressor charm. Being a wizard with the affinity to earth have its perks. And finding magical ties and connection tend to be an easy task for Zan. Satisfied with the connection, he tried to put it to use. Feeling his magic, he tried to contact Spring through the connection made by the charm.

'Spring?' Zan asked Spring through the connection charm.

'Kuya Zan? Wow.. I think this would be really useful in the future.' Was Spring cheerful reply.

'Eh? Indeed. Useful for you young wizards especially in this corrupted town.' A deep male voice was heard by both Zan and Spring that shocked the both of them.

'Snow! Ok ka na ba? I haven't heard you talk for three days!' Spring is now looking earnestly at her familiar laying on her bed.

'Yeah, young one. I'm sorry for being absent minded lately.' With Snow's reply, Spring then pounced on her bed and cuddle her familiar.

'Wait! Bakit pati ako ay naririnig ko si Snow?' Zan is confused. Bounded soul of any animal and familiars are a very intimate connection. Zan just couldn't understand why he also can hear the voice of his sister's familiar.

'I'm actually an mythical creature so I'm a special case.' Snow said as he momentarily raised his head from Spring's embrace and look Zan in the eyes.

'You can hear me because I've acknowledge you as a comrade and also the communication charm really helped a lot to form the temporary bond.' The wolf explained as he go back to snuggling his bonded human.

'Unlike my bond with Spring, it will never severe as long as we both live. On the other hand, as long as I acknowledge you as my comrade, the tempory bond will exist.'

Honestly, Snow is telling the truth. Well.. except the comrade part.

'Loyal and caring to fault are good qualities of being a member of a pack. This child truly loves his sister that I can't help but to include him and brand him as pack' Snow thought to himself as he continue to snuggle his bonded and proceed to take a nap.

It was a slow day at Mr. Hwang's shop. There's only a few customer who came despite of the magical door that's connected into the different parts of Wizard Town.

For Autumn it was a good change from the usual bustling and never ending noise inside the shop whenever it was open.

"I know I shouldn't complain. But for some reason, not having that much customer makes me feel uneasy." Autumn said to Snow as she watched the wolf familiar nap at the counter.

"I feel like something is brewing.. and its not the good kind." She sighed as she folds her arms in her chest.

"I can feel the abnormal current of magic in the air. It's never good if there's imbalance with the magic. Should I follow my instincts and try to find the source of this?" She asked to no one in particular but it roused the attention of the wolf.

'Hunters working with bad wizards.' A voice answered out of nowhere. It completely baffled Autumn that she stopped thinking for a moment.

"What the hell?" Autumn said as she look terrified and shocked at the same time.

'Temporary bond. It's nice to finally talk to you Autumn.' And that's when Autumn look at the familiar in front of her. The said familiar is still laying lazily at the counter but it's sharp eyes looking at her.

"Huh! So you're really a mythical one." She mused.

'You got that one right little one.' The wolf grin at her that makes Autumn smile in glee.

"Oh my gosh! Can I actually ride in your back? You know like Spring did?" The wolf snarled at her as she finishes her sentence. It was hilarious for Autumn that she cannot help but laugh at the familiar.

"You're so cute!" She exclaimed as she pull the reluctant wolf in a hug.

"Autumn?" A female voice entered the shop.

"Spring! I have a bond with your familiar!" Autumn said in a loud voice, the other girl just sighed.

"I know actually." Spring shakes her head at the two who are still hugging.

'You're such a softie Snow.' Spring told her familiar through their bond. She makes sure to not include Autumn in the conversation to avoid making the wolf embarrassed any further.

The wolf only grunt at her bonded and proceed to get comfortable in Autumn's embrace so he can once again continue his interrupted nap.

"Anyway, I just finished the inventory for this month. We don't have any problem with the charm and potions but our supply of books and other common charms are dwindling." As she work at the shop for almost a month, Spring came to know that even though Autumn is a genius when it comes to charms, she tend to not create the usual and common charms.

"Oh yeah! Buti na lang pinaalala mo Spring. I should probably schedule our trip to some of the famous market place all around Wizard Town." Is Autumn cheerful response.

"Our trip?" Spring asked confused.

"Yes. You see, I always shop alone. So it's really nice to finally have someone with me to shop so it won't be boring." Autumn replied as she settle the now sleeping familiar at her lap.

"Okay." The other girl's reply made Autumn smile happily.

"It's gonna be our first trip outside as a pack!" Autumn exclaimed once more in glee.

The familiar wolf cannot help himself to not react. The word 'pack' is rarely known by humans and hearing it from Autumn made Snow huff partly in annoyance but also in a fond gesture.

'Well.. being thoughtful of others is indeed a very good qualities for a pack. This girl is always so weirdly cheerful that makes people smile unconsciously. Because of her personality, it may not seems like it but she really care a lot.' Snow ponder as he tried to hide his expression from both Autumn and Spring.

'The hyperactiveness is not to be desired though.' The familiar huff again that catch his bonded attention.

The small smile on Spring's face is an evidence enough to prove that she have an inkling on what her familiar was thinking.
