AylaOne year later,
Taking my mother's advice I sought solace in Allah and gave life with Afsan all my best. Which was not that difficult as Afsan is a wonderful husband. He dotes on me, makes me laugh all the time, takes me out to my favourite places and we even went to Morocco again. That country has always been on my to do list and Afsan has not only taken me there on our honeymoon but also he takes me there on a romantic getaway.
Life is going good, Alhumdulilah.
Afsan and I are living in our new home. We moved out as he finally wanted to start living in a house of our own. My in laws were sad to see us go, but the fact that we moved just a few streets away helped eased their sadness. Afsan and I are having a house warming party. The preparations are almost done thanks to Zakaria, Inaya and Aqsa. I'm expecting a huge turnout as Afsan has a huge family on his dad's side.
Standing on the doorway of our lounge room I take in the decor. The trio have done a wonderful job. The colour cordination of gold and white are shown throughout. The handmade banner takes the show. It's a pretty piece with a truckload of glitter and paint, I think the trio got slightly carried away but the finished piece is worth it.
"What a fantastic job guys." I bring in the tray of refreshments. They stopped and headed straight for me.
I settled the tray on the counter and in no time most of the food is gone. Well I guess I should be flattered as the last minute pokaras and somosas is a hit amongst these lot. I take my mug of coffee and settle back in the sofa, admiring their handy work once again. I then turn my gaze at my helpers in turn and smile.
Zack has become and instant hit with the twins and the girls. Like his Uncle he has a charming personality that draws you in. Right now he has my sisters in stitches as some joke he has come up with. For an eight year old he's already a hit with the girls. My sisters can't stop pinching his adorable cheeks and the blushes he tries to hide are so cute.
"Aunty Ayla, when is uncle Afsan coming home? He was only supposed to get the drinks ." Zack turns his beautiful eyes on me as he awaits my reply. He's right, Afsan sure been gone for a while.
"God knows Zack, you know how your Uncle is. Probably stopping and chatting to anyone he meets on the way. He's a worst gossip than us ladies." I roll my eyes which resulted in laughter from the three.
"Ouch!! My own wife saying such things about me. Thank you very much!" I turn my head and see Afsan in the doorway, ladeled with bags of drinks and other snacks.
"Did you or did you not got stopped on the way and chatted to each and every person for more than ten minutes max?" I raise my eyebrow and wait for him to reply. I smile smugly when I see him hide his smile, trying to worm his way out of it.
"See. You can't help yourself Afsan. You just confirmed that you love to gossip, which is haram in Islam by the way." I take a sip of coffee and hide a smile of my own. I love the banter between us. It never fails to cheer me up and send sparks between us.
"Ah leave him be, it's not his fault that the ladies won't leave him alone. He's just to damn good looking for his own good." Inaya beams at Afsan and sends me a wink. I rolled my eyes excessively at her words.
"See, my lovely Inaya has my back. I agree It's not my fault. I can't be rude and walk off. That would be very un-islamic of me dear." He sends me a smirk.
"Yeah yeah, I'm sure all those females loved the attention from Mr Afsan Ghani Khattak!" I scoff, I hate the pang of jealousy that shoots through me. I know I'm being petty as Afsan has never given me a reason to feel threatened by other women. From what I see he only has eyes for me. He makes that more than obvious with his very open affection towards me whether we are in private or not.
