Peter Parker - Imagine

"Hey Em could you grab a tray for me? I need to hang up the homecoming banner." Liz asks me as we step into the cafeteria of our school. I nod at my best friend even though I know I can't even balance my own tray sometimes but I know she has a lot of organization to do. She smiles at me thankfully and leaves while I step into the line of the not so joyful looking teenagers of our school. It's Wednesday this means plain rice with some odd looking meat laying in a sauce that looks like it cut glue down parts of cars. "Doesn't look that appetizing huh?" A voice speaks up behind me and I turn around to see MJ with her nose in a book but I'm pretty sure she meant me. "No it doesn't." I say to her. We don't really speak often caused by our age difference and different friend groups. I'm kind of with the popular people and she is..with no one. I mean not no one I see her sometimes talking to Ned and Peter. I look at MJ but she doesn't make the effort to hold the conversation so I turn away from her and notice that I can pick up the meals. A plain salad for Liz and the rice and gooey sauce for me. I just have to make it a few steps away because we always eat at the front table so I focus on the trays in my hands trying not to spill anything.
It's just like I knew I wouldn't make it. If there's a 0.1% chance of walking in a disaster I'd probably be that 0.1%.
So call it karma or fate but I walk straight into someone on my way to the tables and the tray of Liz flies out of my hands and I already see myself wiping down the floor while I regain my balance. Luckily the person I ran into has good reflexes and catches the tray with one hand hindering the salad from meeting the floor as the other hand catches onto my elbow saving me from falling onto the floor and making a total fool out of myself.

"Sorry I-" my words get stuck in my throat when I meet brown doe eyes looking at me shocked. I feel my cheeks burning up like fire and the skin on my elbow starts to prickle when I notice that he still hasn't taken his hand off my arm. "Are you okay?" He asks me voice soft. I nod at him suddenly not being able to speak. What the hell Emily?
"I..yes thank you for catching me and the tray." I tell him and open my hand so he can hand it back. He lets go of my arm with one hand and hands me the tray. "No problem." He says now putting his hands in his jean pockets. My eyes wander to his shirt when I catch onto the words making a smile split onto my lips. I lost an electron! Are you positive?
The pun is so bad that it actually is funny. "I like your shirt." I tell him smiling and his eyes show a quick moment of confusion but than it seems like he's realizing what's written on it. His cheeks flush in an adorable way as he scratches his neck awkwardly.
"Thanks my friend gifted it to me."
"Ned?" I ask him and his eyes widen.
"You know Ned?" My brows furrow at his question.
"Yes I do why wouldn't I?"
He opens his mouth to answer me but his mouth just stays open as his eyes fixate on something or rather someone behind me. I feel her light hand on my shoulder and I know that I'm out of the play as soon as Liz steps up beside me. Peter's eyes widen and his whole face is now tinted in red. "What took you so long? Oh hey Peter." She speaks up when she sees him standing in front of me.
"Hi..Liz." His voice just got five octaves higher and his voice breaks at the end of the sentence. I cringe for him because it's actually sad how obvious it is that he has a crush on her. "Should we go to our seats?" She asks me and ignores Peter again. She doesn't wait for my answer and grabs my wrist dragging me behind her. I turn while we walk and give Peter a small wave who's still standing frozen at the same spot but either he doesn't see me waving or -okay there is no or.
He always had just eyes for Liz and I don't wanna sound like a bad friend I would like for Liz to date a sweet guy like Peter but she doesn't even notice him.
We arrive at the table and I sigh plopping down beside her while the others of our friend group greet us excitedly. I push my food forth and back on my plate and look up at the end of the cafeteria to see Ned and Peter sitting beside each other their eyes trained on our table dreamily.
My eyes suddenly start to burn and I have to laugh at myself for being so ridiculous. He's just another guy entranced by the beauty of Liz and it's okay, it's fine I'm going to get over it. I feel a burning stare on me and my eyes wander a bit to the left making my gaze collide with Michelle's who's watching Peter and I.
I quickly divert my eyes back to my plate and when Liz nudges me with her leg I start to pay attention on the conversation that's going on between my friends.
