"I'm going to head out now before it turns dark, my parents are going to kill me if I stay past ten on a week day." I tell Liam while I put the controller back on his desk grabbing my backpack.
Liam grabs my wrist and stops me from going out of his room.
"What's wrong?" I ask him confused.
"Don't you want to stay over? I know it's a school night but my house is closer to school anyways. I can talk to your parents if you want to?" He asks me urgently making me raise my brows in surprise.
My cheeks warm up at the thought of staying over and sleeping in a room with Liam. We're best friends for a long time now but I can't remember when our last sleepover was. Probably with nine or ten.
"I don't know.." I trail off not really sure but his blue puppy eyes shine down at me while his lips turn down sadly.
I sigh and nod letting my backpack fall to the ground.
"I'm going to text my parents. But I need clothes to sleep in and a toothbrush." I tell him and he smiles at me happily making my heart jump in excitement.
I text my parents while Liam puts out a big shirt and sweatpants.
He lets me change in the bathroom and we brush our teeth together.
After we're finished I hesitate a second in front of his bed but he gets in and holds the duvet up for me to get in.

We lay down facing each other and the moonlight hits the back of Liam making his soft skin glow mysteriously.
"This is weird." I break the silence making him chuckle.
We have barely any space to move without touching each other and it makes every cell in my body apparent of his movement and his body heat.
"It's not. We did this all the time in the past do you remember?"

"I know but I just thought you're doing this with Mason now." I tell him honestly. It's not like I'm hurt Liam has his guy friends and I have my girl friends that's okay.
"Does this make you uncomfortable?" He asks me genuine concern in his voice making me shake my head no.
"I just don't get why you wanted me to stay so desperately."

"I wanted to spend more time with you."

"But we're going to sleep."

"We're not sleeping now." He's right about that I guess. His eyes watch me intently and my heart starts to race instantly. My cheeks warm up but thank god he won't see it in the dark, unfortunately he can hear my heartbeat going haywire.
"What's wrong?" He asks me worried.
"Oh so it's okay to tell you what's wrong but you won't tell me a thing?" I try to change the subject and it works.

"I already told you I wanted to spent more time with you." I huff and turn my back to him because I don't get why he's lying.
To my surprise a strong arm snakes itself around my waist and suddenly I feel Liam's body heat behind me.
"I'm sorry but sometimes I forget that we used to tell us everything but we changed, we grew up." He says softly.
"I know but it doesn't change that you can tell me everything Liam." I say and turn back around his arm still hugging me towards him and making butterflies erupt in my stomach.
"I'm the boy I shouldn't be afraid of anything and I want to be able to protect you." He says sheepishly and I furrow my brows because I don't know what he's talking about. Something clearly stresses him out and I lay one hand against his cheek to calm him down. He closes his eyes for a second and sighs pushing his cheek into my hand.
"Since last month I can't really sleep." He says his eyes still closed.
I stroke his cheek to tell him to go on.
"When I needed to fight these berserkers and you got hurt I felt so helpless and no matter how hard I tried I still couldn't beat him." He opens his eyes again the soft blue shining intensely now.
My mouth opens in understanding and I take my hand off his cheek.
"Every time I turn out the light I see them I hear them and I'm scared that they come for you."

"Liam why would they come for me?" He shrugs his shoulders at my question.
"You see it completely wrong. Yes I was hurt by the berserker even though you tried to fight it but if it weren't for you I wouldn't even be alive."

"No if it wasn't for me you weren't even gonna be in that situation." He says bitterly. I shake my head not agreeing with him.
"Don't say it like that please. I would never in the lifetime choose to be not your friend I love you, you know that?" My heart hurts because he looks so sad and I wish I could tell him that I love him so much more than just a friend.
His eyes gleam and suddenly he leans forward letting our lips crash against each other.
My eyes are wide open and I quickly close them when I see his closed.
It feels weird at first not how I expected my first kiss to be.
It's unplanned and he doesn't know what to do just like I don't but if you'd ask me to have it any other way I would decline.
He softly pulls himself away again his noses trills flaring.
"I don't know if I should've done that." He says unsure of himself.
"Did you like it?" I ask him hopefully.
"I did but I'm not sure if you did."
I bite my lip to hide my smile and lean in again kissing his lips a second time but this time the kiss is even sweeter and it makes my brain go all foggy.
We part again and I let my eyes closed as he pulls my face against his chest.
"I won't let anything happen to you I promise." He mumbles and I sigh in content.
"I know you won't." Are the last words I say before I drift off.
