"Checkmate." He mumbles a small grin making its way onto his lips.
I sigh and push my hair out of my face.
"That's not fair how can I play chess with you when you're always in my head." I tell him pouting and he lets out a loud laugh at my face.
"You can play it with Alice instead if you want to." He shrugs his shoulders and an adorable smile makes its way onto his face.
I push the chess board out of the way and crawl over to attack him.I push his shoulders down and he falls while I let out a playful growl.
I'm not really successful in scaring him because he's the fastest of us and quickly flips me over.
I bring up my knee and kick him in his stomach making him groan and fall over.
I laugh and sprint off into the woods to make it first to our home.
I close my eyes and concentrate on the wind caressing my hair, the leaves crushing under my feet and the water lapping in the small river that flows a mile from here.
I hear laughing behind me and a determined look makes it's way onto my face when I try to run even faster."You can't outrun me Lizzie." Edward whispers beside me and I let out an excited laugh even though I know he's going to be faster than me.
I see the house coming up and I start to slow down when I see Alice standing in front of it a distant look in her golden eyes.
Edwards face turns serious as he suddenly stops running the earth crumbles underneath his feet at his stop."What's wrong?" I ask alarmed but Alice eyes gain their focus again and she smiles at me.
"I was waiting for you Liz you promised me to help me with my prom dress." She pouts and I take a quick glance at Edward who's uncharacteristically quiet.
His hands are pushed into his pants a confused look on his face.
"Edward?" I ask him quietly and he snaps out of his thoughts looking down at me.
Are you okay? I ask him in my thoughts and he gives me a small smile."I'll let you girls be." He says and turns around walking into the house.
I turn back to Alice and raise my eyebrows in question but she just grins.
"Come on lets go." She says excitedly grabbing my wrist and dragging me to her car.
This is going to be a long day.
I hear Edward chuckling inside the house and I growl quietly.
"Shut up." I say knowing that he heard me because his chuckle turns into laughter.⋆ ✯ ✩ . ⋆
⋆ * ✯ * ✧ ⋆ * ✯* ⋆"Why won't you tell me what you saw today?" I ask Alice my eyes closed as she brushes through my long hair.
She hums a sweet melody towards the tunes Edward is playing downstairs on the piano.
"Was it about Jasper, is he okay?" I ask her concerned.
He's been struggling the most to keep his thirst under control and I know that Alice worries about him all the time.
"Jasper is fine. For now and I think he's getting better finally." She says her voice filled with relief.I sigh and nod accepting that she's not going to tell me what she saw. Why did Edward react so strangely?
I feel Alice put my hair into a long braid her soft but yet hard hands grazing my skin.
I love this kind of evenings sure Partys are fine but the evenings at home with Alice playing with my hair, Edward playing his music while Carlisle and Esme stand in the back listening to him are much better.
My thoughts wander off to this morning and my sprint with Edward and I sigh in content while I remember the sensation of the soft brush of the fresh air against my skin.
For a short moment my thoughts wander on their own to the moment Edward flipped me over and I remember the feeling of his skin against mine. The tunes of the song slip for a second and I cringe and open my eyes quickly to get rid of my thoughts.
If I were human my cheeks would burn in embarrassment but in my favor that's not going to happen.
The tune continues and Alice eyes catch mine in the mirror in front of me.
"Finished." She says a soft smile on her lips.
Edward finishes playing downstairs and I hear him take the stairs up to his room.
