Another mission, another bunch of toil. One of the things from my recent text message from Spenser said, "Make me proud!" All the more reason for me to do just that.
Turns out there were Grimer in the waterways, and they apparently never appeared down there before. I had to scour through all the passageways and capture the Grimer to clear the sludge. The stench down there was putrid. The waterways are supposed to be so clear that Pokemon can live down there, and it wouldn't affect the drinking water supplied to the city.
I encountered Aria again in one of the tunnels of flowing water. She was as smirky and witchy as always. "Serena, what are you doing down here?"
"I'm catching the outbreak of Grimer down here."
She giggled. "It sounds like the perfect job for a rookie." I will make this girl respect me if it's the last thing I do.
Turns out there was word that a member of the Go-Rock Squad was down there, which prompted Aria's investigation. Well she can take her taunting behind and do that. I've got a mission of my own to attend to.
Traveling through, I captured a good eight or so Grimer. Once the sewers were all clear of sludge, it was time for me to return. I was heading towards the exit when I smelled an even stronger stench coming from that direction. Then I heard screams of, "MUK! There's a Muk running amok!"
*Bleep, bleep*
I got a new text, this time from Joel. He was telling me to capture the Muk even though it wasn't rampaging because it could contaminate the water supply. He was just chilling there with a couple more Grimer, blocking the way. The capture was a bit tedious with the Grimer in the way, but it was a success.
Once released, Aria rushed past murmuring about her clothes smelling horrible and not wanting to spend another minute down here. I don't blame her. I followed on the way back to the Base, where I was praised yet again by Leader Joel. I'm starting to miss hearing the praise of a certain someone else right about now...
"You restored clean drinking water to the citizens of Fall City by yourself. You restored the city's lifeblood! Those captures you made would have challenged veteran Rangers! You've outdone yourself again. I'm hereby certifying you as Ranger Rank 4, Serena." Posing, I watch as he removes another cap from the Styler, this time for capacity of Friend Pokemon. I can now have five with me. Just then my Styler received another message from Spenser. This time it was for both me and Joel.
<I've got unconfirmed reports that the Go-Rock Squad has resumed activities in Summerland. Serena, if you're not on an active mission, head for Summerland. This isn't a mission. I want you to gather intelligence on the Go-Rock Squad with your own eyes and ears.>
"Now even Summerland is being threatened..." Joel ponders after reading his version of the text. "I would like you to go immediately, but there's a major problem. For some unknown reason, the ferry to Summerland hasn't been running. If you took the Dragonite Bus, you would be in Summerland instantly, but you can't use it at your Ranger Rank. Now what to do?"
That was definitely a good question. To be honest, all I wanted to do was relax after a long day's work, but duty calls and this gang of dorky hooligans seems to be throwing everybody here into a fuss.
"OH!" Shocked from my reverie by the exclamation, I turn back to Joel. "How about if you asked the Lapras Guy down in the harbor?" It was worth a try, so that's where I headed next.
