Nine
Joong had seen me in his dream. The moment he told me that, my heart was thumping so hard that I couldn't even give him any sensible answer, just a tight smile that I knew, didn't appease his confusion a bit. How much had he seen? How long had the dream visited him? If or when he started questioning his own sanity when the truth befalls him; how should I tell, that yes, we'd met centuries ago and I had love him just as long; that I had caused all this mess in his life ever since? I tightened my hold on his waist, unconsciously causing him to wake up from his sleep. He looked at me, gave his sleepy smile and kiss my forehead.
"What time is it?", he asked, while nuzzling my neck with his nose, and closed his eyes back. He was still sleepy.
"Good afternoon...", I said while stroking his hair and down to his back. He then supported his weight on his arms that were caging me underneath and kiss my lips lightly. The uncountable kisses we had, caused my lips to be a bit swollen, that Joong was afraid another full kiss would cause me pain.
"I'm sorry, you must be sore right now...", he said, with a regretful sigh and puppy eyes that told me he felt guilty again.
"Joong...please, don't. It's wonderful...", I said while caressing his face and gave him a full, bright smile. He smiled back and kiss me once more. He couldn't help it, and so did I. The pain was tolerable; the pleasure of the kiss outweighs the discomfort.
"I'll go shower, you rest a bit more...and no, I won't trust my own patience, so don't think of provoking me anymore, Nine", Joong said when my eyes were pleading to follow suit. He kissed my shoulder, push me away a bit and moved to the bathroom. I'd lain on my back again and closed my eyes to get a little more sleep.
The faces of the Guardians were scary. They must had wanted to roar at me for something that I'd done that catapulted The Sky into an unrest. Zartec that came out before me, was looking haggard, refused to even look at me and just left.
The Head of The Guardians came forward and sat in front of me. He was quiet for so long that I almost thought I had turned deaf. Is this a mental torture tactic?.
"Nine, do you know how much damage you caused to The System? The Sky sectors work in tandem all this while, and then because of a human, a single human, every sector is at wit ends to deal with so much uncertainty. Do you wish for the other earthlings to face calamity, or what?! You selfish being!".
"The Sky is daunted by a mere human? Never heard such nonsense, Van", I answered back bravely.
"The problem is not the human, Nine...it's you! He is just a chess piece that you put forward to change the game, or in this case The Sky".
"I'm ready to dismiss your baseless assumption; on the account that you didn't understand both the human mind or heart; nor mine".
"Such insolence! You're not a special one!", Van's roar almost sounded liked a thunder on earth before the storm.
"Bring me to see The Master first", I stubbornly defied.
"Areo and The Master catered to your whims, don't expect me to treat you the same. Your case had been brought to my attention since six years ago, not by one, but by half of the sectors, and now you just did it again. As long as you keep having "unnecessary" thoughts, the unrest will blow up bigger. The System will collapse, Nine. The Guardians never budge from holding up The System".
"This is atrocious! The Guardians only allowed to question, not to decide!"
"They can't", Van said while glancing at his two wing guards, "but I am The Head Guardian".
My eyes widened, and I understood that Van had the capability, but never had to use his card, up until, now.
"What will you do?"
"Segments. Your thoughts and memories will be segmented, filtered and recreated. While Joong will remember everything. Let see how much you can bear seeing him broken and dare to interfere with The System again".
"Inhumane!", I said with so much feeling, that I stood and launched myself towards Van, if not for the invisible shield that blocked me, we would already be in a fistfight. Though Van was much larger, my anger was insurmountable.
"Yes, but you're not one, Nine. Just don't forget that!".
Joong
I walked out from the bathroom, wanted to see whether Nine was awake or asleep. If he sleeps, then I won't disturb his rest, would just order some food for lunch and play games on my phone at the living room while waiting.
Nine was shaking. His whole body was shaking liked being in a controlled rage. His brows frowning and his palms were bunched into a punch. I was shocked, but still didn't want to ambushed him in such situation. I laid down, carefully embraced him, lightly and then tighter, giving him the comfort from such horrible dream, until the shivering subsided. He slowly opened his eyes, that was misted and red, and taking deep breaths again and again.
"What happened, baby?", I asked quietly, worried, but keeping a calm exterior. My hand was stroking his dampen hair and his back to sooth him.
"I'm sorry Joong, I am so sorry...for messing up everything", he said and burst into uncontrollable, heart wrenching sobs.
