The Sky, Sector 5
Areo, Angel Of Death
I was looking at the child that was running for his life. My fellow Angels had just finished sending his parents to Sector 3, The Fate sector. Yes, their fate was already written, death by unprecedented event, which in this case, village fire, caused by warfare. After the confirmation by that sector, they would be brought straight to heaven, without judgement. That was fair, for those whose death were unprecedented. Seemed harsh when you saw that on earth, but their path in the Sky Kingdom was way easier than others. His parents were good, decent people that always help others in need. In this case, they were trying to help their old neighbours to leave the house that was burning, and unfortunately, the thick smoke caused their demise. Death was definite. Angel of death never had to make any decision, they just did their part, whatever was written by the fate sector or was ordered by the Sky Master.
I was waiting for the demise of the boy, next. I was supposed to pick up the boy's soul and brought it straight to heaven too. Children was never judge, they were considered untainted soul, and even the naughty one that every parent thought was a nightmare to deal with, was still considered innocent in The Sky Kingdom. It took more than nasty tricks to anger the Master, only those with a black soul would be sent to hell. Most of humans, were placed in between, judgement and punishment based on their good and bad deed, except a few special cases.
I saw the boy slept, tired from running, but also in fear. From a distance, I saw the enemy's soldier searching up until the river, almost close to where the boy slept. The boy must had thought that the hideout was the safest place, yet for a trained soldier, no forest was too much a barrier to keep you safe. Just when the soldier supposed to look at the near river, suddenly, a cute petite angel came huffing, and showing me the signed order from the Master.
"Nine! What is this?", I was surprised that Nine, an Angel Of Life could pass the Sector's strict segment's barricade without so much hassle. Nine was a bit different from all the other Angels. He was the only Angel somehow gifted with feelings. The Master said, he was the odd one out, maybe He misspelled Nine's Order Of Being or something. A bit hard, for an Angel to work when feeling so much. Imagined if an Angel Of Death had feeling, no one would die and the world would be overpopulated.
"Order from The Master. The child shall live...", Nine said with such hurry. He peeked at the Water of Destiny that'd shown the boy, and looked at the soldier that was getting near with a hitched breath. "Areo, the boy shall LIVE", Nine said hurriedly again.
"What have you done, Nine? Angel is not supposed to interfere in human life or death. We worked as ordered, or as written on their fate. That boy is not a new born, so how come you could convince the Master to relent ?", I asked Nine and saw his expression showed concern, not for himself, but for the time I kept delaying by asking him so many questions.
"We are almost out of time Areo! Please, stop the death first, as ordered!". Although I didn't know what was the term that made this happened, I must obey the Master's order. I flicked my finger and hide the boy location from the searching eyes of the soldier. All he could see was darkness and a deep river. After searching and confirming no one was along the river, the soldier back away to go back with his troops.
"Thank you Areo", Nine said and when he almost at the barrier that would bring him back to the Sector Of Life, Nine turned and said to me, "You won't see me for long time after this, so goodbye".
And that was the last time I saw Nine at The Sky Kingdom, until after 6 years later, he came back to The Sky Kingdom, with his Leaf Of Life in my hand.
"What have you done, Nine?", again, I asked, and Nine just smiled as he always had, because, no matter how hard I tried to think about this, I didn't have a heart to feel anything, as the one and only Angel who did, smiled with teary eyes. God! What a mess to be gifted with feeling.
Yes, Angel didn't have a life or death timeline, we were supposed to be eternal, but yet, Nine days was counted, starting from now, and the end....let me just keep it secret for now. No matter how long he got, death is imminent, definite for this one Angel.
