What happened to Jungwoo and why he became mute?
6-year-old Jungwoo was playing with his toy cars in the living room, waiting for his parents to come home from work.
He was on his own little world that he flinched when the door bursted open with his parents shouting and yelling here and there as they came inside.
"I told you we have to fix this!" His mother yelled. She closed the door forcefully. Little Jungwoo was now shaking and crying while hiding behind the couch.
His dad groaned in annoyance. "What can we do?! Huh?! We don't have enough money to pay our debt and your son here is so needy!" He screamed at his wife.
The small boy tried to stop them from fighting. "Mom, dad, stop it." He grabbed his dad's arm but was flinged off and hit the hard ground.
Mr. Kim grabbed Jungwoo by his neck that it nearly choked him to death. "Don't interrupt us and stop being whiny!"
Mrs. Kim didn't do anything and also threatened his son. She approached him while holding a cutter. "Speak one more time and I will do something I won't regret." She pointed the blade on his throat.
Then, they took their anger out to their own child.
Since he was still a kid and an obedient one, Jungwoo was traumatized, obeyed them, and didn't spoke for the next 2 years.
But one day, 8-year-old Jungwoo can't stand the fighting any longer and shouted at his parents. Angered by his action, his mother forced him out of the house. "Get out! Our lives will be easy if you're not here in this house." And slammed the door.
That was when he swore not to speak ever again, afraid that this event might happen once more.
