Henry runs a hand through his hair as he sighs, since he and Rhodey were the only people in the compound at the moment they were summoned by the secretary of state to have a meeting about where they are on finding the "criminals" as Ross puts it. Henry isn't Steve's biggest fan but he knows that Steve shouldn't be punished like this for it, and he blames Bucky even less even though he would never tell Tony that.
"You okay?" Rhodey asks lowly as Henry was flipping through the screen looking at the last known location of Vision. "As okay as I can be, with Tony in space and all." Henry huffs before turning towards the holographic conference table that was across from them. "Still no word from Vision?" Secretary Ross asks, Henry shakes his head.
"Satellites lost him somewhere over Edinburgh," Henry says as he steps away from the table to look at Secretary Ross who was sitting in the middle. "On a stolen Quinjet, sith four of the world's most wanted criminals." Henry glanced at Rhodey who shook his head. "You know they're only criminals because you've chosen to call them that, right, sir?" Henry looks away smirking, Rhodey got the sir out with a spit of venom which made Henry laugh because he knew that Ross could tell.
"My god, Rhodes. Your talent for horseshit rivals my own." Secretary Ross replies to Rhodey without looking up at him. "If it weren't for those Accords, Vision would've been right here." Henry crosses his arms and steps onto the other side of the giant table that He and Rhodes were using to look for Vision. Secretary Ross scooted his chair back and walked towards Henry and Rhodes. "I remember your signature on those papers, Colonel. With all due respect, I don't know what you're doing here Mr. Oakley." Henry scoffed loudly. "It's Oakley-Stark to you, I am the joint CEO of Oakley-Stark Industries previously titled Stark Industries so, you owe me respect because I own the building." Henry held his head high as Secretary Ross regarded him carefully.
Whatever he was going to say was cut off by someone entering the offices. Henry's breath hitched when he saw Natasha, Maria, Steve, Vision, and Wanda. They stopped before the steps, Steve nodded at Secretary Ross. "Mr. Secretary." Henry let out a slow breath when Secretary Ross started to walk closer to them. "You got some nerve, I'll give you that." Natasha and Maria smirked, they looked at their clasped hands before Natasha looked at Secretary Ross. "You could use some of that right now."
"The worlds on fire. And you think all is forgiven?" Steve tilts his head slightly as he looks at Secretary Ross. "I'm not looking for forgiveness and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defenders. So we're here to fight and if you wanna stand in our way, we'll fight you too." Secretary Ross turned towards Rhodey and Henry who were standing back, Henry had made his way to the holographic projection while Secretary Ross was talking. "Arrest them."
"All over it." Rhodey turned towards Henry and nodded so Henry ended the live projection. A few seconds after they hung up they heard a beep. "That's a court marshall," Henry smirks at Natasha and Maria who walked down the stairs to hug Henry tightly. "I don't think you've officially met Steve before, uh this is Steve Rogers obviously and this is Henry Oakley-Stark." Rhodey pointed at Henry who put out his hand and shook Steve's. "Besides Natasha and Maria, you all look like crap." Henry jokes leaning against the table.
The man that was holding up Vision adjusted him before looking at Henry. "Yeah, well, the hotels weren't exactly five-star." Henry looked behind him when he heard footsteps, he smiled when he saw it was Bruce. "Uh, I think you look great. Yeah, I'm back." Henry looked at Natasha who had a smile on her face. "Hi, Bruce." She looked over to Maria who kissed her cheek. "I'm Maria, Natasha's girlfriend." Bruce let out a slight chuckle before giving Maria a half-wave.
"As interesting as this, my husband is in space. We need to talk, now." Henry claps his hands together making Rhodey glare at him, luckily Steve nodded and gestured for Henry to lead them to a place where they can talk so Henry leads them through the compound to a living room and kitchenette place that Henry used often.
The guy that was holding Vision who Henry realized was Sam grabbed the football that Peter had left in here when he was visiting. "So we gotta assume they're coming back, right?" Rhodey says pulling their pictures up on the small holo table they had in here. "And they can clearly find us," Wanda says scrubbing her hand over her face. Behind him, Bruce sighs. "We need all hands on deck. Where's Clint?" Henry looks behind him at Natasha who gulps and tightens her grip on Maria's hand. "After the whole Accords situation, he and Scott took a deal. It was too tough on their families. They're on house arrest." Bruce furrows his brows and looks around. "Who's Scott?"
"Ant-Man." Steve answers, Henry rolls his eyes at Steve who has his hand on his hip like a teenager. "There's an Ant-Man and a Spider-Man?" With the mention of Spider-Man, Henry's eyes widen and he grabs his phone from his pocket and sends Peter a rushed text. He knows that Karen read it to him because it says read but Henry doesn't see any bubbles showing Henry that Peter is responding. Henry lets out a sigh before putting his phone back in his pocket and looks towards Rhodey with a worried look on his face. "Okay look, Thanos has the biggest army in the universe and he is not gonna stop until he gets-" Bruce trails off and stares at Vision who was slouched against the partition looking outside "Visions Stone." Henry finishes for Bruce.
"Then we have to protect it." Henry looks at Vision who shakes his head. "No, we have to destroy it. I've been giving a good of thought to this entity in my head. About its nature but also its composition. I think if it were exposed to a sufficiently powerful energy source something very similar to its own signature, perhaps. Its molecular integrity could fail." While he was talking Vision made his way over to Wanda and put his hands on her arms which were crossed. "Yeah, and you with it, we're not having this conversation."
"Vision, we don't trade lives," Steve said making Henry sigh and pull out the chair at the dining table. "Captain, 70 years ago, you laid down your life to save how many millions of people? Tell me, why is this any different?" Henry's eyes go wide and he looks at Bruce. "Because you might have a choice." Henry scoots his chair out and stands beside Bruce, crossing his arms. Bruce nods in agreement with henry. "Your mind is made up of a complex construct of overlays. Jarvis, Ultron, Tony, Me, the stone. All of them mixed together, all of them learning from one another."
Henry looks at Wanda who was standing behind the island in the kitchen part of the room. "You're saying Vision isn't just the stone?" Bruce turns towards her. "I'm saying that if we take out the stone there's still a whole lot of Vision left. Perhaps the best parts." Henry claps his hands together. "Bruce and I, we can't do that here so you'll have to find someone who can."
"I know somewhere."
