After Henry admitted his feelings about Tony to himself, he's felt lighter.
Henry only knows that this light feeling is only temporary because if Henry ever tells Tony, it could all come crashing down. Everything Henry has worked towards for getting back in Tony's good graces could all come crashing down if Henry tells the truth.
Henry collapsed on the sofa when he got home, he had a busy day, he worked on trying to finish a prototype, Henry felt like he was going to fall over at any moment.
He must have fallen asleep because he was woken up by IAN talking to him.
"What is it?" Henry groaned sitting up, wincing when his back twinged in pain.
"Tony Stark tried to call you Sir, he left a voicemail." IAN voice spoke throughout the penthouse.
"Play it back please." IAN doesn't answer, he just plays the voicemail.
"Hey Henry, Um, I was just wondering if you would like to eat dinner with us, we're starting at 6 pm, oh and there is someone I would like you to meet. He's a big fan of yours. If you don't want to come that's okay, I didn't tell him you were coming so you wouldn't be disappointing anyone. Hope I didn't bother you, bye." The line clicked meaning Tony ended the call, Tony sounded sad when he ended it, Henry heard the underlying want that Tony wanted him there, so Henry was going to go.
"Are you going to go, sir?" IAN asks as Henry walks towards his room.
"Yea, I am." Henry grabs a clean shirt and puts it on.
"Shall I message Tony?" Instead of answering IAN, Henry shakes his head.
"Can you tell Paxton to get the car ready but I'm going to drive it so he doesn't have to come." Henry looks at the time on his watch, he can leave now and be there right on time.
"He said that sounds great," Henry smirked, even though Paxton gets all the days off he wants he still is excited about a day off, shaking his head Henry grabs a belt and gets his keys.
The elevator opened for while he was walking towards it, IAN shut the doors had the elevator go to the garage.
"Have a safe trip, sir," IAN told Henry as he left the elevator even though IAN is in the car as well.
Opening his car door he pushed the start button, buckling he takes off, the garage door opens. He already knew his way to the Avengers Compound so he didn't need IAN to send him directions.
He could see the compound in the distance, as he got his pass scanned his mind began to try to figure out who Tony wanted him to meet, he's already met the people in Tony's inner circle, hasn't he?
He doesn't have time to think about it because he pulls in and gives his keys to a valet so they can park his car, he doesn't tell them that his car can park itself because it's too much trouble to explain.
He scans his pass and goes to the elevator, FRIDAY automatically takes him to Tony's floor, Henry hopes FRIDAY has kept this quiet though.
Right when the doors open Henry hears Tony and another voice talking, smiling Henry walks, and when he turns the corner Henry sees Tony sitting at the bar with some kid.
"Hi." Henry clears his throat and sheepishly said.
"Oh, Henry! You came." Henry almost frowns at the surprised tone of Tony's voice.
"You're Mr. Oakley!" The kid stands up quickly.
"Who's this Tony?" Henry nods his head towards the kid as he walks into the kitchen.
"This is my intern Peter Parker, Peter, this is Henry Oakley." Tony gestures between the two.
"I'm a huge fan, Mr. Oakley." Peter stands up and holds his hand out for Henry to shake which does, with a smirk on his face.
"Please call me Henry." Henry stuffs his hands back in his pocket when Peter lets go.
"It's no use Henry, I've been trying to get him to call me Tony for about a year now, no luck." Henry felt something he hasn't felt in a long time wash over him, when Henry thinks about it for a moment, that feeling is domesticity.
Once Tony dishes out the food, Maria's Italian recipes, as usual, they all sit around the table that's off the side of the kitchen.
"This is good Mr. Stark," Peter mumbles around a mouthful of food, Tony looks at Henry smirking.
"So, tell me about yourself, Peter." Henry places his fork down.
"Um well, I live with my Aunt May, I don't know if you heard about it but my uncle Ben passed this year, um when Mr. Stark offered me this job I was excited." Henry did remember hearing about Ben Parker that passed away.
"Are you a superhero kid?" Henry swallows and looks between Tony and Peter.
"What? What- what makes you think that?" Peter sputters and his voice goes high.
"Well, Tony mainly knows superheroes, and you're about the right height for Spider-Man." Henry leans back in his chair and crosses his arms.
"Don't worry kid, Henry can keep a secret. Yea, Hen, you're right, Pete hear is Spider-Man." Tony sighs and takes a bite of pasta.
"Are you sure Mr. Stark?" Peter looks between Tony and Henry nervously.
"I promise, I know everything about superheroes, Tony and I? We go way back." Henry looks at Tony out of the corner of his eye and saw Tony blush, he knows what Tony's blush face looks like, and he's making it.
"Oh, were you guys roommates at one point?" Peter asks wide-eyed.
"Something like that," Tony mutters to himself.
Henry looks down, closing his eyes, he finishes his pasta.
"This was good Tony," Henry tells Tony who is in the kitchen putting plates in the dishwasher.
"Thank you, thanks for coming Henry, means a lot." Tony's eyes light up, the look makes Henry's stomach fill with butterflies, yea, he's still in love with Tony Stark.
