Chapter 2 - Arrival
Amethysts POVWe pull up outside a small little house labelled “Office” and park the car in a designated area. I flip the mirror down and check myself over. I have to look good right. I run my hand down my chocolate coloured hair making sure that no little waves are sneaking out of the tight braid down the back of my head that I have it in. I look back in the mirror. Hmm… Reaching up I quickly pull out my front couple strands from my otherwise perfect braid just to you know, “border my face.” I don’t know. But I think it suits me better.
I smile, open the door the door and step out.
Right into a puddle I might add. Errfghhh I’ve always been so clumsy! I look down checking myself over. I chose my outfit this morning and to be honest, I think I look pretty good. I wear a bright blue polo (to bring out my eyes of course) and nice clean beige jodphurs that fit me perfectly, hugging my legs and waist exactly as it should. I tuck in my polo and secure it with a black belt that matches my long boots. No mud specks. Awesome.
“At least it didn’t ruin my outfit,” I mumble to myself.
I trudge to the back of the car, open the boot and pull out my bag that has my water bottle, a bit of food, my helmet and my gloves. The food and stuff was Mums idea she seems to think I’m going to like it here and want to stay later or something. I’m not to sure. Yet anyway.
“Okay. Bye honey!” Mum calls through the open drivers window. I straighten up, slam the boot closed and run to mums window plonking a kiss on her cheek. “Just remember to clal me if you want to stay longer or something.”
“Yep! Thanks Mum!” I call out as I watch her drive away.I turn and head over the building labelled “Office” just like I was instructed to do by whom, I think, was the barn owner, whilst I was talking to her on the phone after I inquired about riding lessons and work experience here. I cautiously step up the stone steps and onto a wooden veranda, moving softly and slowly. For some reason my body is telling me to be quiet. I push open the wooden door and hear a bell go off. Oops!
I rip my head around trying to work out where that noise came from and whether it was meant to happen just. I just notice a small black doorbell hanging from a hook when a middle-aged lady wearing jeans and a long sleeve white shirt with a grey vest enters from a door I didn’t notice before. She goes and stands behind the counter and waves to me, beckoning me over.
I smile nervously and walk over to her. This is strange. I’m never normally nervous around strangers. Maybe It’s just because this means a lot to me.
