"Clementine-"

"Na, don't question my decision, please? I'll take it next time."

"Alam ko pero.. ang magulang mo?" I noticed Nana almost fidgeting her fingers. She's anxious. I couldn't almost count the times I almost made her faint because of the actions I'm taking. "Nasa ibaba na pati si Fenris para ihatid ka."

"I'll talk to him later," sabi ko at nag-almusal. Pinilit kong sumabay sa akin na mag-breakfast si Nana kahit bakas pa rin ang pag-aalala sa mukha niya. I sighed and reached for her hand. "Nana."

Nilingon niya ako at tumigil sa pagkain.

"I got this," I assured. "I'll tell Mamá that I'm not ready. That the time I allotted for preparing wasn't enough."

I only hope she would buy that. Pagkatapos kumain at maligo ay bumaba ako para sabihan si Fenris. He's supposed to take me there. Kaya nagulat na lang siya nang makita akong naka-teeshirt at shorts lang.

"Clementine," tawag niya at nilapitan ako. Isang beses pa siyang sumilay sa relo para tingnan ang oras. "Mahuhuli ka na. Bakit hindi ka pa-"

"I'm not getting on," I cut off. "You should take a day off now and spend time with your family, Fenris."

His brows arched in confusion. "Today's your exam. Kapag hindi ka um-attend ngayon, masasayang ang application mo."

"Hindi sayang, Fenris," sagot ko. "There's next time. I can take it next time. Hindi ko kailangang magmadali."

Fenris sighed. Napasuklay pa sa buhok kaya napangiwi ako.

I crossed my arms. "Don't worry. I'll make sure Mamá would blame only me."

I only have to do what it takes to make sure Mamá won't twist and knot Nana and Fenris with me. This is a stubborn move but if this is the way I could hinder things I have to bear with it.

"Ayon nga, Clementine," sabi niya at bumakas ang pag-aalala sa mukha. "Malalagay ka na naman sa alanganin nito."

"But it's better than what would await me after the exam, Fenris. Ilang beses ko na bang sinabing ayokong magpakasal?" I asked. "If I can't stop it, then I'll delay it. Through and through."

Hindi ko na hinintay pang sumagot si Fenris. Mabilis ko siyang sinenyasan para bumalik na rin agad sa condo. I plan to visit Hiro and Jayden today to tell them about this. For sure, of all people they'd understand.

"Enjoy the off, Fenris," huli kong sabi bago ko siya talikuran at maglakad pabalik ng lobby. Hindi ko na rin siguro siya sasabihang ihatid ako kina Hiro. It would be nicer to breathe in the fresh air and commute my way there.

"Clementine-"

Narinig ko ang tawag na 'yon ni Fenris na hindi niya natapos sabihin. Sa ilang saglit ay nakakabinging tunog ang narinig ko mula sa likuran ko dahilan para makatakip ako ng tainga at mapaupo.

Bumilis ang tibok nang puso ko nang matanto kung ano ang tunog na 'yon.  Nagpa-panic kong nilingon si Fenris, kung saan nanggaling ang malakas na tunog.

Napahawak ako ng bibig at napaatras sa nakita. Halos manlumo sa nakita.

"Oh, my god..." My eyes widened at the sight of Fenris.. and the car behind him. The car was suddenly burning just before me.. and my driver. "Fenris..."

My whole body wasn't able to move at the noise.

Fenris was laying on the ground, without any hint of consciousness. Mas lalo pa akong nanginig nang makita ang umaagos na dugo mula sa ulo niya. His arms were bruised and burnt.
