in the morning ashton woke up with meredith wrapped in his arms. she still had makeup stains on her face, and was breathing softly.

"i love you." ashton mumbled, a headache attacking him. he laid his head back down on the couch pillows.

"i like you more than i like any other human." meredith said, her voice scratchy.

ashton giggled. "im very happy that you're my best friend and not some dickwad." she smiled.

"oh shit." she said, and got up swiftly.

"what?" ashton asked.

meredith got her phone up off the floor.

mommiii:

meredith where are you.
[11:31pm]

mommiii:

where the hell are you meredith.
[11:47pm]

mommiii:

meredith rose king where are you.
[11:50pm]

mommiii:

meredith honey if you come home i wont be upset, just please come home.
[12:07am]

there were about 17 more. "shit i gotta get home." she panicked.

"i'll drive." ashton said quickly, and grabbed his keys. he threw a shirt on ad they ran out the door. he sped down the streets and meredith got out before the car even stopped moving.

"i'll keep you updated." she panted, and ran to her front door.

she opened the door and her mother rose from the couch. she instantly hugged her mom and told her, "i'm really sorry i was upset because luke was being mean to me and commented on our money and i went to.. my friends house." she said.

"what friend?" her mom asked. she pulled back to look at her face. then she studied what she was wearing. "why are you wearing boys sweatpants? my word, meredith did you leave the house to have sex with a boy?"

"no!" meredith yelled. "no, no no. i didn't do anything, no sex, no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes."

"were you with a boy?" she asked.

"yes, but he wasn't drinking or smoking or anything all we did was watch the breakfast club and fall asleep on his couch. seperately." she felt bad for lying to her mother but she'd never really gotten in trouble before, so she didn't want her mom to be angry with her.

"who was it?" her mom asked.

meredith bit her lip and looked down at the floor. "ashton irwin."

"my god meredith, do you know how dysfunctional that family is?"

"no. but he cares about me and he's nice to me." meredith sighed, looking back up to her mom.

her mother stared her down for a minute. "i wont tell dad. but this is your only free pass." she said.

meredith smiled. "thank you mom. i love you, im sorry."

then she ran upstairs to text ashton.

meredith:

im off the hook.
[10:57am read]

ashypoo:

wanna hang out then? :-)
[10:57am]

ashypoo:

seriously my moms home and i dont wanna deal with her.
[10:58am]

"mom!" meredith yelled. "can ashton come over?"

"i'll be interrogating!" her mother yelled back.

meredith:

you'll have to endure mothers questioning.

[11:00am read]

ashypoo:

ill be over in 5.
[11:01am]

meredith smiled and washed her face quickly. she kept on his sweatpants, but swapped her sweatshirt out for a harry potter tee shirt.

as she jogged downstairs she could already see her mother talking to a very nervous-looking ashton.

"what are your intentions with my daughter?" she asked.

"mom!" meredith scolded. "we aren't going to go upstairs and make out with each other or anything, god." she rolled her eyes. "come on ashton we can go watch some movies."

"nice meeting you mrs. king." ashton said sweetly, before jogging up the stairs after meredith.

"they are so gonna get married." mrs. king mumbled to herself.

upstairs, ashton and meredith laid upstairs watching "the virgin suicides" on netflix. "why the hell would you ever watch this movie."

"i saw screenshots from it on tumblr. this will be the 77th time ive watched it and i still cant figure it out." she mumbled, leaning her head on his chest.

the movie started and ashton was instantly interested. about halfway through, meredith fell asleep on his chest. ashton smiled and kissed her forehead. then her mother walked in.

"mrs. king, im sorry. she just fell asleep and i dont wanna wake her-" he whispered.

"just be good to her." she smiled, and left her daughter and the boy alone.
