meredith king was the apple of his eye.

and yes, she is as preppy and smart as she sounds.

meredith's last name was king but she sure was not treated like royalty in the real world. all the students in west mills highschool had her wrapped around their fingers. she gave in easily, and people took advantage of that.

ashton irwin was the boy who sat in the back of class silently watching her get every algebra question correct in a matter of 30 seconds. his gum snapped every few minutes, and it made her cringe a little. ashton would laugh at her pettiness. perfect little meredith king would never break the rules, and other people doing so made her uncomfortable.

"mr. irwin, i'm going to have to ask you to spit out the gum." mrs. squire told him.

meredith turned to the back to squint at ashton. he just returned her stare. she was wearing her WMHS volleyball sweatshirt and the bitchy look she was giving him matched her emotions entirely.

she had been annoyed all day and the fact that she had a teacher who hated her (the only one at that) right at the end of the day put her in an even worse mood. meredith despised anything having to do with math. and being good at it didnt help, since she was put in many math classes.

in the middle of the teacher lecturing ashton, the final bell rang, and no one wasted much time getting out of algebra II.

her locker was neat and organized. her morning books were on the right, afternoon on the left. the pencils were in a little cup and she had a mirror hanging in the back. she grabbed her backpack and purse then shut her locker. today was friday, and the only homework she had was a powerpoint presentation on bach for her music elective class.

as meredith walked outside, a single snowflake fell from the sky and landed on her nose. as she walked home, more gradually fell down, and she smiled widely.

winter was her favorite.
