today was the day of the dance and meredith was beyond excited.

she was going with a boy that everyone wanted to go with, she had a nice dress that she felt pretty in, and a best friend to spill it all to afterwards. it was perfect.

ashton and meredith left algebra together, after calum reassuring her that he would pick her up at seven. "i dont know why youre so excited." ashton laughed, trying to dull her expectations.

"it's the first dance ive been asked to." she blushed. "and i'm going with calum hood. i didn't think he knew i existed."

"text me later." ashton smiled, and turned down the hallway his locker was at. calum wasn't surrounded by any of his buddies. so naturally, ashton decided to say something to him. he dropped his books in front of his locker and walked over to calum.

"hood, i heard what you said yesterday." ashton said, glaring. "you will not be fucking my best friend. if you ruin her night i will come after you." calum looked very smug.

"but she's so happy with the fact that im taking her, she'll be practically begging me to get her out of her dress." he smirked. "now run along, my dates waiting for you."

ashton glared and shoved him once before walking away and shoving his books in his bag. meredith was waiting for him, because they walked home together until they had to part ways. "i dont like calum all that much." he muttered.

"why?" meredith asked.

"he's got a bad history with lots of girls." ashton answered. "just dont get hurt." he smiled.

meredith just chuckled. "my god, it's not like he's going to try to have sex with me or something."

ashton forced a smile. "yeah." he laughed. then they walked in silence until they had to go seperate ways. ashton was really worried about what was going to happen.

ashton walked through his front door and walked upstairs into his (really messy) room. he threw his things down just as meredith facetimed him.

"ASHTON HOW SHOULD I DO MY HAIR." meredith yelled, and set the phone down somewhere.

"side braid?" he asked. it was what she did to her hair all the time and he thought it looked nice.

"would curling it look good?" she asked, walking out of the camera frame.

"isnt your hair naturally curly?"

meredith groaned, and then walked back into the frame holding a curling iron. "yes but those are ugly curls these are pretty."

ashton sighed. "why do girls always put themselves down?"

"i'm not sure."

"like when you said you wished you were skinny. you are skinny. and either way that doesnt define how pretty you are." he groaned.

meredith smiled, plugging in the iron. "you're too nice to me."

ashton giggled. "i really am, maybe i should be mean to you."
