A/n: I just realized that the most likely reason that I'm not getting as many reads on this story as I did the previous version of it is because majority of the fandom is 12 year olds that wouldn't understand the actual roles butlers played in Victorian times and don't appreciate the hours of research I put into this story just to make it as historically accurate as I possibly can and only wanna see that lovey dovey shit go down in the first chapter like I did when really that's not how it works. But to those who are older (or younger but with an appreciation for the Victorian era), thank you very much for still reading this story, even though it can get rather boring at times, I appreciate your support and would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Also, Just saying this part is during the events of the circus arc, and the Alois Trancy stuff in this will become relevant later in the story since I'm mashing all the arcs in with Black Butler 2 bc I wanna make this story a long one. Really I just need that quality filler material so y'all don't get bored while I'm building your's and Grey's relationship while also trying to fill the gap between my plans. Hope you're all enjoying the story so far!

(Y/n)'s POV
"A ball?" I asked from across the dining room table, to Phipps who was eating beside John Brown and myself besides Grey.
After Phipps had approached myself and Grey yesterday, the two of us teasing the older boy, he told us that the Queen had requested something of the three of us, and that he'd tell us during our sit down at dinner. What we came to find was that her majesty requested that we'd go to a ball, one that we were already invited to of course.
"Yes. It's in her majesty's best interests that we attend this ball for the primary purpose of assassinating the host," Phipps explained, reading the letter that sat at the side of his plate of food.
Of course, I thought, why else would she be forcing us to attend such an occasion? Usually she let us come and go as we please with such events, unless she had a motive.
"And that would be?" Grey asked, having just swallowed a large mouthful of food from his third plate.
"The Earl Alois Trancy."
A look of puzzlement came across my face.
"But isn't he the Queen's spider? His role is a key component to her majesty's reign," I asked, very confused at the situation I had come into.
"Her majesty suspects treason in his services to her. She believes there may be an ulterior motive to his assistance in her reign, especially since it's such dirty work he does to please her," Phipps divulged, a grave look in his eyes as he pushed the letter over the table to me.
"Erasing people's pasts and replacing them with false memories to cover up crimes...what makes it scary is that no one knows how he does it, nor do they question it," Grey noted, having abandoned his meal as I picked the letter up and read it for myself.
The bottom line of it all was that the young Earl had requested our presence at a ball - party if you will. The dress was casual, and there would be a sit down dinner in the midst of it all. And course, music dance were also advertised. It'd been a few years since the previous Earl Trancy had passed away, and ever since then Lord Alois Trancy had been hosting many a dinner parties and balls and what not. The man's death was slightly suspicious if you ask me, but then again, the man himself in his life was also suspicious.
"Shouldn't there at least be an investigation made into the boy if treason is suspected? We can't very well go making such careless decisions without a proper understanding of the situation. What if he is not guilty? We'll be kissing a valuable part of our defenses goodbye, and not only will it make our job harder, but it'll also put her majesty in danger of exposure to the public," I tried reasoning, placing the letter back onto the table as I looked back up to Phipps.
"Those were her majesty's direct orders, and we can't abandon them on the off chance that Lord Trancy is innocent. Unless crucial evidence is found that proves him other than guilty between now and his assassination, we are to proceed as directed by her majesty," he insisted, my brow twitching slightly in annoyance as I kept my composure as it was and nodded.
