A/N: hey guys, sorry for the super late update. A lot of shit has gone down recently. Y'all remember M? He dumped me after nearly 7 months and I've seriously just hit rock bottom. I've been in and out of the hospital and psych ward as well due to the very drastic change and I haven't been able to go back to school since it happened. I'm heavily considering dropping out and starting work or doing school from home but right now I'm just so low I don't feel like I can do anything. I'm really not okay right now and I'm sorry but updates will be much much slower.
But I'm trying to get help, I'm trying to get back on my feet.
Stay tuned, folks <3
(Y/n)'s POV
Pitter, patter, pitter, patter...
It rained down crystal liquid on the Grey manor as I held my child in my arms. While the world around us was cold, I made sure to keep her warm and safe in my arms, as any mother would. I adored my beautiful girl, with absolutely everything I had.
Ever since Athena's birth, her majesty insisted I only work at the palace for half of the week, and spend the rest, as well as the weekend, taking care of my daughter at the Grey manor, my new place of residence since Grey inherited it from his father when he passed away. For the time being, his servants would take care of me while he still worked, and on days I also had to work Hannah and the maids would take care of our child.
The days seemed to become gradually more and more miserable, which was ironic considering summer wasn't too far away. It almost felt as though my surroundings were warning me to misfortune ahead. Though I was quick to dismiss that as superstition, and the thought never occurred to me again.
That was when I sensed movement around me, in the room I was in. I didn't know who it was, but if they were hiding away I knew they had bad intentions. Holding my dear child close to me, I grabbed one of the decorative rapiers from off the wall of the room, and with an estimate of where the intruder could be, I jabbed the sword in the direction of my estimate.
Though to my surprise, the blade didn't go through the flesh of a being and into the wall behind them. Instead, it was caught at the fingertips of a demon, a demon in glasses with no emotion to that stoic face of his.
I knew it was pointless to ask him how he got in here, obviously as a demon he could do whatever he pleased. But there was still another few questions I had the right to ask.
"Why are you here butler?" I asked, in a low protective growl as I held my daughter close to my chest.
"I've come to warn you, Countess Grey," he droned, though I was intrigued as I raised a brow and let my guard down slightly.
"Warn me as to what?" I asked, slowly lowering my sword as his grip in it loosened and it felt through his fingers.
"I predict my master's untimely demise in the coming days. I'm sure you know what that means for you," he explained, myself feeling a slight turn in my gut as I gave him a puzzled look.
"Why so?" I asked just above a whisper, shocked at this news.
"That I cannot tell you, I'm sworn to secrecy as of now," he said as he approached me slowly, and like a hungry animal flashed his crimson eyes at me, "but I am warning you for the sake of your husband, your daughter, and our contract..."
He approached me, a gentle hand coming to the buttons that ran centre my breast and undid one. That was all that I allowed before I slapped his hand away and distanced myself from him. Though at that point I felt my chest begin to sting, and my arms began to go numb. My arms unravelled and Athena fell from my arms, and I screamed but the butler caught my child and held her. I felt myself fall to my knees and all I could do was watch.
