Elwyn's P.O.V.

Everyone was staring at me as we waited for Nolen to start dinner. I could hear them whispering and gossiping about me, and it made me very uncomfortable. I was with the rest of the Ghost Pack, minus Kaede, who would apparently be entering with Nolen. Gabriel gave me a reassuring smile and I just grimaced back. I always seemed to be in the centre of attention, no matter what I did.

Kaede and Nolen walked in after a while and got onto the stage at the end of the hall we were in, both wearing poker faces. The entire pack quietened once they came in, and the attention shifted to them.

"As all of you know, we have been finding more and more rogues on our lands recently. As much as I hate to admit it, we are not strong enough to fight them off on our own. Fortunately, the Ghost Pack has agreed to help us and we no longer face the threat of annihilation. This is their Alpha, Kaede. I want all of you to treat the Ghosts with utmost respect and listen to Kaede when he gives any instructions or commands," Nolen said, his Alpha tone clear in his voice.

He looked over at Kaede and they nodded at each other.

"Thank you for having us, Lumiere Pack. I am Kaede Thunder, Alpha of the Ghost Pack. It is a pleasure to meet you, and I would appreciate if you give all my pack members the same amount of respect you would give me. We will commence training tomorrow, and I expect all of you to report down here by 6 a.m. Am I clear?" Kaede said.

Lots of groans could be heard through the room. Kaede was a no-nonsense kind of guy, and he didn't appreciate the response from the Lumiere Pack. His face darkened slightly, and he shouted, "AM I CLEAR?"

His aura flared out and filled the room, charging it with his power. Everyone replied with a "Yes, Alpha." Kaede nodded, satisfied.

"All right, there's nothing else. Please continue with dinner and feel free to interact with one another," Nolen announced.

All the pack members of the Lumiere Pack immediately went back to their somewhat hushed whispering, not really bothering to be discreet about the topic of discussion. I rolled my eyes, annoyed at their behaviour.

Kaede soon came over and wrapped his arms around Gabriel from the back, giving him a peck on the cheek.

"How's everything going?" he asked.

"I'm sure you can hear what's going on," I grimaced.

"Don't mind them. Let's go get something to eat."

Dinner was buffet styled, just like it had been all the time. The only difference was that we were using the hall instead of the dining room. Usually, the food was placed in the dining room, and the pack members would come and get the food before going off to wherever to eat it, as long as they brought the plates and cutlery back after they were done.

A few members came over to introduce themselves, but none of them made eye contact with me for over two seconds, or at all. Pussies.

After a while, I quietly slipped away, bored of just standing around and watching people make small talk. I was just walking around the mansion, and my feet brought me to my old room. I stood outside the room, as still as a statue, internally debating whether I should enter or just continue walking. I already knew what was further up, though. Just more rooms and a balcony at the end of the corridor. From where I was, the balcony could barely be seen. I was nearer to the middle of the ridiculously long corridor.

Screw it. Why the hell not? I quickly opened the door and stepped into the room. I shut the door with my foot and leaned my back against it, sighing. Nothing has been touched since you left. Let's check the validity of that.
