(Ryu's POV)

I hung up the phone when I heard the shower cut off. Five minutes passed and she had yet to come out, so I went in.

I found her standing in front of the sink looking down at her hands.

"There's still blood on them." She said, not looking up.

There wasn't. Her hands were clean. Her whole body was clean.

"They're clean, Babe." I said softly.

She shook her head. "They're not."

"They are. Trust me."

She abruptly turned to face me. "He's going to be okay right? I mean, he has to be okay. He's Aimoto. Right?"

I sighed and took her hands in mine. "I don't lie. We both know that. I don't know, Koneko. I don't know if he'll be okay."

Her eyes began to water and she looked down at our feet.

I cupped her face in my hands and had her look at me. "I called the hospital. He's out of surgery and we can visit him now, if you want to."

"I want to."

She quickly gathered a few things and then we left.

She practically ran down the hall to get to his room. I had to grab hold of her before she went in so that I could try and prepare her.

"Aria, baby, listen to me. Okay?"

"Okay."

"He's.....he's in a coma. He's hooked up to all kinds of things to keep him alive. He....looks bad. You have to prepare yourself. You saw him in the basement when you found him, but now it's different. Every injury is more visible now. Understand?"

"I understand." She nodded.

She walked in and immediately burst into tears. The sight and sound of her crying was enough to get under my skin. I wanted to make it stop. I'd do anything to make it stop.

(Aria's POV)

The sight of Aimoto laying in that bed broke my heart. Our bright, funny, sarcastic friend was unconscious, beaten, bruised, and barely breathing.

"C-Can I touch him?" I asked Ryu.

"His hands or anywhere else that's not injured."

I walked over and carefully grabbed his hand in mine. I cried even more. He didn't feel as warm as he usually did.

"Can you....can...." I couldn't finish my sentence.

"Can I what?" Ryu asked softly.

"His grandma. See if they found her yet."

"Yeah. I'll be right." He said leaving the room.

I wrapped my hands around Aimoto's and pressed them against my forehead.

"I promise you, Aimoto, we will find who did this. We will find out who and why and we will make them pay. I promise you." I whispered.

Ryu came back a few minutes later.

"She's visiting a friend in a different town, but she's on her way back now."

"Good. That's good." I said as the door opened.

Jun and Yori came walking in.

"The f*ck happened to him?" Jun asked.

I explained everything and they got angry too.

"Who the f*ck would do that to him? He's like.....the nicest guy I know."

A few of Yori's men showed up to stand guard and to visit. No one at the hospital said anything because they were.....aware of what Yori did for a living.

The room was fairly full as everyone tried to figure out why someone would hurt Aimoto. That's when I looked over at Ryu only to find him already staring at me. He was sitting on the edge of windowsill with his arms crossed.

He hadn't said a word the whole time. Not until Aimoto's grandma showed up.

As soon as she saw Aimoto, she bursted into tears. Everyone remained silent as she cried and tried to comprehend the state of her grandson.

"I'll be back." Ryu said, walking towards the door.

Some tried to ask him where he was going. Others just let him walk by.

He ignored all.

"Where he going?" Jun asked me quietly.

I shrugged. "I don't know."

But I did. I had a feeling anyway.

Yori stepped out to take a phone call and came back minutes later. He came over and squatted down beside me.

"How has Ryu's mood been lately?" He asked.

"Why?"

"Just curious. He been good? Happy? Sad? Mad?"

"He's been just fine. Why? What'd you do?"

He gave me a grin in response. The kind of grin you give someone when you did something that they won't like.

After Aimoto's grandma calmed down and stopped crying, she asked me what happened. I told her and then she started thanking me for saving him.

"That husband of yours....." She said softly.

"What about him?"

"He's a dangerous man."

I smiled and nodded. "He is."

"He going to find out who did this to my boy?"

"I really can't say. He....has changed in the past year. He's not the man he used to be."

She nodded. "Well just one more time, I hope he hunts down the monsters who did this and hurts them. No one can hunt like Akuma can."

I ran my hand through my hair and sighed as she left to grab a cup of coffee.

She had a point. If anyone could find who did this and why, it was him. I knew he wouldn't though.

He promised me that Akuma was done, retired. We wouldn't have to live that life again.

Besides me, Aimoto is as close to a best friend as Ryu will get. And like I told Vince, you could shoot someone like that in front of Ryu and he wouldn't care. This is no different. Perks of being a sociopath.

Ryu wouldn't do anything......

Unless I asked him to.
